I posed V4 in a pinup pose and her arm looks lumpy and bumpy and I was hoping someone had some advice for me to fix it up.

TheDuckee posted Mon, 23 January 2012 at 3:27 PM

And here she is rendered...:

You can see the problems by her right arm (our left) especially by the arm pit and more so in the un-rendered image.

Looks like a limitation of the mesh to me.  Try adjusting the pose by moving the shoulders to accommodate a smaller amount of twist on the upper arm.

That's a tiny render, btw.

Why the censor dots?  You can post nude images, so long as you tick the advisory box when you post.

Just trying to get the pose right and I didn't want to wait for a large render... just wanted to peek.  And I thought maybe no censor would open this thread to more comments.  I don't need her boobies staring back at me everytime I open this thread.  :)

I'm trying to copy a human pose so it's a little frustrating when V4 gets lumpy but my human refrerence isn't!  :)

You're mistaken. A nudity advisory gets MORE views...lolol. ;) As it is tho, I'm with SamT...looks like the mesh twisting. Arms above head has always look kinda crappy on the Daz figures.

V4 WM should solve the problem.

Funny Laurie... next time more boobies I guess!  :)

Paganeagle - what is V4 WM?

SamTherapy posted Mon, 23 January 2012 at 7:44 PM

Oh, something to look foward to!  Any ETA?

I would turn on IK for the hands and then slowly adjust the twist between the shoulder and collar to see if fome of that can be fixed.  Then turn off IK on the hands.

This is exactly the kind of thing I tend to tweak using the morph tool on smooth.

TheDuckee posted Tue, 24 January 2012 at 9:18 AM

Hmm never used the morph tool.  Any tips or suggestions on that?

You could always try Nerd's free V4 weight-map injector to see if it makes any difference.

kobaltkween posted Tue, 24 January 2012 at 10:37 AM

When you pull up the tool, choose the "Create" tab.  When it's on Smooth, use a strength of 0.1 or higher, and when it's on anything else, you probably want it to be about a tenth as strong as your smoothing.  Having it work from the surface (default setting) rather than the screen is generally the best solution.   Don't worry about mistakes, because you can always zero the morph you've made entirely or use the tool on Restore to incrementally erase what you've done.  If you start using it to fix anatomy, try to find a reference or two first, just because it's much easier when you have a clear idea of what you want the surface to do.

raven - That looks cool, but I have Poser 8.  So not sure it would work for me.  :(

Kobaltkween - Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a shot.

raven posted Tue, 24 January 2012 at 11:27 AM

Oh, I did not know that. In that case, the V4 weight-mapped mentioned earlier won't be of any use to you either :(

kobaltkween posted Tue, 24 January 2012 at 12:33 PM

You're welcome!  I hope it helps.

Raven:  Still good to know, I'm thinking about making the plunge and upgrading but I'm afraid of screwing up my runtime.  :)

lkendall posted Tue, 24 January 2012 at 2:09 PM

TheeDuckee:

I upgraded P5 to P6 to P7 to PP to P8 to PP2010 to PP2012, and I have never had a corrupted or messed up runtime. Actually, in later versions of Poser, I just left the runtimes intact and added them as external runtimes. I hope you can afford to take the leap.
