Is it me or is there some new bugs in SR1 ? I dont know if anyone else has experienced this

my libary is suddendly without warning undocked and wont redock the option is just not on the window , poser is slower than it was before SR1 , its crashing frequently , it takes ages to render even without IDL and props that were lighting to load are now taking forever to load.

The 64 bit library is never docked, it is free standing for that version.  It is not based on Adobe Flash, but Adobe AIR.

Ok that clears the Libary issue up, I moved some things around in my runtime folder and I think that might be what's causing poser to slow down.

I have seen reports of the SR introducing some new bugs, but I don't recall offhand what they were.  Based on those reports, however, I still haven't loaded the update.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

It's really sad that one must be leery of applying a Poser update...lol. But this is what it's come to. I've been gunshy ever since Poser 8 SR3 broke IDL :P

September original release and SR1 of PP2012 have been solid as a rock  on my Mac excluding the 64 bit tkinter issues which are not SM's fault.

What is the deal with TKinter? Is that why some of my scripts don't run in PP2012?

Cage posted Wed, 25 January 2012 at 10:11 PM

IIRC, the most recent Mac OS updates have killed Tk support again on that platform.  Tk functionality seems to have been problematic on Mac for awhile now.  It may finally be kaput.  :scared:  Which is kind of rotten for Poser Mac users, who lose the use of all older Poser Python GUI-driven scripts.

BTW, I think most people have had few problems, if any, with the SR.  I didn't load it because it didn't wow me with its updates, I don't need to have any bugs fixed which the SR addresses, and some people have had trouble with it.  But others should not distrust it just because I do.  Don't be like Cage!  He's a weirdo!  :scared:

You MUST be a weirdo! ;) Because I am happy with SR1. I had a number of annoyances that were fixed with it. Mostly GUI type stuff. It's been a while, so I might misremember, but I want to say that it's more responsive than it was.

I loaded it too, and no problems. Win 7 as well.

Didn't notice any new problems, preview looked better (I use ATI) and program no longer hangs forever when switching display modes or closing renders.  I still have a problem with closing the group editor popping the program to the far back of all open windows.  Also somehow lost the file overwrite requestor behind my preview and had to force close.  But haven't had any other problems from the SR at all.  Win7.

In the Mac version, SR1 fixed some early problems but introduced occasional HUGE lags when switching cameras, entering text in any field, or quitting. Restarting PP2012 doesn't clean out the bug, but restarting the Mac does. While the lag is happening, the Activity Monitor shows "pictd" spiking to ore than 90% of CPU usage. It drops to zero when the lag is over.
