I'm a Poser user, and used to Poser's interface. I got the free Daz Studio Pro but I can't get anything to work. I watched the video, and they show the sides of the interface opeing up into another interface, I can not get it to do this, not can I render or do anything. I click on tabs and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? All I can do is bend genesis and move him around. Do I have a corrupt file? Daz told me just to "Clear my cache and redownload - an answer they seem oi give for everything I've asked them. Can you hekp? Thanks so much. I really wold like to try Daz Studio. Cheers, Sherrie

The interface is a lot different than Poser, but once you understand how to do the basics, it gets much easier. The image above is what the default interface should look like when you open DS4 (only minus a lot of the stuff mine shows - I've already accumulated way to much stuff) .... Oh I should ask are you on a PC or Mac? This view is on a PC running Vista 64bit.
The new Version of DS4 comes with a couple of ready to render scenes. On the right of the image above (click on it to see a larger view) you can see the preset scenes on the right. You sould have the three cenes on the bottom row, if you don't then you definitely need to download DS4 Pro again.
Note: Make sure all of the categories/tabs on both the left hand and right hand side of your screen are highlighted like the image above. DS4 is context sensitive, what you are able to see/do is very dependent on what you have selected. The 4 main tabs/menues (Actors, Wardrobe & Props ...Pose & Animate ...etc.) will change what is available in the side tab menues below).
I'm sure all this was about as clear a mud, bat at least it's a starting point to get us kind of on the same page.

Thanks Duster. No, my interface has only Genesis in it. NO side bars. I will redownload it. Thank you.

I unistalled all versions of Daz Studio, then reinstalled Daz Studio 4 Pro. It still does not work. I have asked Daz and asking them is a waste of time. They just say "redownload". Which I have done. What could be wrong? Is there a secret button I'm no pushing?

Drifterlee can you post a scren shot? (Shift Printscreen, then past it into your photoapp or IrfanView)? Then we can see it.
Also when you uninstalled did you see if there where any left over files in the directory (or if the directory was left?)

Another problem might be a configuration file that isn't getting deleted, I'm not sure where that might be hiding (I would think in C:Program FilesDAZ 3DDAZStudio4).....I just happened to think, if it is a preferences file, you might be able to enable the tabs by going to Windows>Tabs> then selecting the tabs you need (Smart Content, Shaping, Surfaces for the tabs on the left).
If nothing above seems to work, try posting a request for help in the Commons in the DAZ forums. It's where most people go, and you should get help pretty quikly. I would think that someone else has had a similar problem.

EDIT I noticed sometimes the service DAZ Content manager doesn't start, when it doesn't (like after I changed my item below and restarted DS4), then no content seemed to come up, nothing to click on. click on the start menu and type in services and see if daz content manager is 'started' if not right click and say start. then rerun ds4 and see if things work any better. END EDIT
Also try this in case its corrupted. Go to the Window menu, then workspace, then layout. What comes up for me by default is Hollywood Blvd, check to see if thats what it is. Try selecting something else and see if that has any effect.

What video card do you have? DS depends on OpenGL, where Poser has a software mode as a fall back.
drifterlee posted Mon, 13 February 2012 at 12:39 PM
I have a Geforce- forgot what number - but it runs Vue 10 and Poser 2012/
vitachick posted Mon, 13 February 2012 at 1:32 PM
I had similar problem...Make sure you selete all Daz4 items...I even went to registry
(regedit) searched for Daz4 and deleted...Searched HD and did the same. I also reinstalled not where they said but to my G:Program Files Daz Studio..I want Daz4 where Daz3 is......Works ok now!
I really don't like them telling me where I have to install...

I had a simliar problem with an install of Poser 8 where the content libraries would not display and it turned out that I had to update my version of Flash. I don't know if DAZ Studio works the same way but it might be worth checking that you have the latest version of Flash installed.

try going into your content preferences 'scan for daz/poser files on your hard drive'it'll ask how you want it organized and if you want the files metadata (click yes that way you can see what type it is in the interface).it's also in the interface so you can scan for new data without leaving the main screen.
vitachick posted Thu, 16 February 2012 at 5:42 AM
Daz3 has that option but don't see it in Daz4
