Hello,

I noticed that some poses with the new weight-mapped V4 work fine, while others break her knees and other joints. I imagine this is due to the design of the poses.

Could someone refer me to a set of poses (or a particular vendor's store, preferably) that work well with V4WM? I'm looking to build a large library of poses, so I need more than just a few.

It's hard to buy them then have them not work as I intend. Thank you very much for any heads up.

Are you referring to the WM-V4 offered by Poser Place?  I believe that they are aware of that particular problem and are looking to resolve it ASAP.  As far as poses, I have gone to a variety of different poses, including partial poses, and have not found any particular problems.  Use any poses set as you would with the regular V4.

I don't remember exactly which set it was. One I used a lot before I went through the process of upgrading to WM. And yes, the Poser Place WM.

When I get home I will report on what exact set of poses it was. Thank you though for the information.

I'll back up whoah on this.

Most of my poses take a big hit when using the new V4wm offered by Phantom3D. Mostly hands and feet. I don't care personally. I plan to just correct them and resave as I go. My V4s are heavily modified in Zbrush so I expected as much.

The switchover is just plain worth it.

Whoah, Richardson. and others:

It is certainly not our intention to minimize the challenges of updating to an improved but altered figure. Seeing that this is very recent work, it will take time for vendors to catch up to it, and they will not try unless a lot of people have V4~WM and are using her. So, we are concentrating on creating the opportunity.

While it is possible to re-rig a figure, and to create weight&bulge-maps for it, and then distibute those without violating the rights of the figure's original creator; altering a pose, and then sharing that correction as a community effort seems difficult to me, unless the original poses are donated to the community. I suppose that a script could be made to add and subtract the differences between a corrected pose, and the original product, but one person's correction might not seem right to the next person.

On the other hand, V4~WM is easier to pose than V4.2. Some of the problems in posing that are reported arise because people are pushing V4~WM farther than they could push V4.2. And not just in posing, but in morphing as well.

It was difficult to update V4, and stay within the bounderies set by DAZ, especially because the mesh could not be corrected (without breaking the morphs). But, V4~WM can use V4's textures, expressions, morphs, most of the legacy clothes, hair, and other items. On the other hand, many poses used bends and rotations that are not normal for humans in order to overcome the flaws of V4's rig and mesh. These compensations can be glaringly obvious when applied to V4~WM.

Of course, we are really hoping that the Poser Community and Vendors will step in and support V4~WM with among other things, poses. Also, correction morphs would be most welcome for the few problems that cannot be dealt with by rigging and weight-maps.Some vendors are fans of V4~WM, and we hope they will offer updates to their poses, which would increase the value of their merchandise.

Please, as you find tricks and tips for adjusting to V4~WM, share them. There will be other legacy figures that will be updated with weight-maps and new rigs. The body of knowledge we build now will be useful later.

Thanks for trying out V4~WM. We hope any frustrations are far outweighed by a positive experience.

I normally have to tweak poses, as  the scene elements or the figure's morphs or clothing usually require it...
