The Fractal community seems non existant here at Rendo. The Fractal Window Monthly hasn't been updated for 5 months, no contests or challenges, not even a post in the forum since around Christmas. No wonder everyone is moving to dA and FractalForums where the Fractal communities are ALIVE and Thriving.

I could not find any letters....I thought I had got lost. We had a wonderful spate of interaction last year. er.....where is Fractal Forum?
ligt posted Mon, 27 February 2012 at 8:32 AM
yes, i tried a christmas greetingsletter , but that was the last thing that came up.
i must say, i removed nearly all my entries because of a very strange favored person message i got, last month.
well, perhaps something is going to happen now....

If the Moderators of the Fractal Community don't want to or Can't do their job anymore then it's time for new ones maybe. You just can't leave a Community hanging in oblivion with no direction, sure I'm still going to do Fractals but damn, a little interaction would be nice. Not to mention possibly generating a little more interest in Fractals again.

Lenord posted Mon, 27 February 2012 at 10:53 AM
Fractals are NOT becoming extinct, just here at Rendo where it appears no one in charge cares. The Fractal community at DeviantArt is alive and thriving, in all areas, FE, UF, Apo, MB3D, Bulber and many many more Fractal generators. Contests and Challenges are a weekly Norm, sharing is the name of the game and Moderators are deeply involved because they are activily Posting Artists in the Galleties themselves.

That's good to hear Allison, Fractals are growing by leaps and bounds elswhere, many new applications are popping up for 3D fractals and 2D Fractals are still as viable as ever. It's just a shame to sse the Fractal community here at Rendo doing so relatively poor, I have to believe it's due to the apparent lack of interest of those overseeing this medium.

I absolutely love fractals. This section, much like the photography one, are not as active as the others.
I applied a bit ago for coord.

I really don't know the specifics, just that they could not commit the time to the Fractal Gallery and Forums anymore.

Though I'm a definate newbie to this thing called fractal art..(have a few raw ones I've dabbled with in my gallery)that I always found them to be quite invigorating and out of this world when it comes down to design...I would once again LOVE to particapate in this type of art but do not have a Apo program I trust...I downloaded one before and created several as my gallery shows but uninstalled it after finding out it was a "hack" version. If their is such a link to a free version of Apo3D that's legitt then I'd be over joyed to once again begin experimenting and would be more than happy to take part here.Though I can't hold a candle to any that use MB I can at least have fun trying...lol...
If other than Apo3D then at least a program that isn't too difficult to understand...complicated programs chaf my as$......lol...

Do try Fractal Explorer!!!! It is free and a wonderful programme. I use it all the time. Link to download kindly given by Kallikru. I post my spot files along with my images. They can be converted back to .frs files using notepad.

Much obliged on the links given...will give it a whirl and get back to you if needing any assistance..Always like trying new things that aren't too complicated....As previous mentioned...i once had Apo3D and really was getting the hang of it(IMO) as my gallery has a few from past attempts and was learning a tutorial to go from 2D to 3D and went to open it one day and everything was different and all my saved parimeters were gone...so i lost interest at that point and later found out it was a hack version that evidently came with a Trojen that wreaked havoc on my PC....Though I'm quite savy with Pc's in general this really tried my patience and haven't pursued it until seeing all you folks using this program called MB and then those that were using Apo3D were then posting more...I truely misssed the program but like I said I was a victim of a hack version...I'm sure you all can understand my reasing as to why I am cautious now...So once again...Thanks for the time you took and for the links...give me some time and you'll have the chance to see me back creating fractals once again..
Thanks Folks!

The term 3Dhack on Apo, it's a mistake to think it means it's a "Hacked" Version, that's just the name it took on. It's actually an experimental try at making the 2.08 2D version a Psudo 3D version by giving it a shadow z-axis to work with, it's really not True3D with full rotational control of x,y and z axis but the FX are pretty cool. All Apophysis versions are Open Source programs provided Free of charge so the "Hack" term used in Apophysis doesn't mean the same thing it usually does with Software programs that are for Sale.

Evening to you Lenord.....
Thanks for all your input thus far....
Let me clarify so as you don't get the impression that I'm not savy on certain things....When using the word hack I meant it was a bogus copy of Apo as I found out their was some out their that were not legit copies...I new what hack meant in the terms you used....I should have explained better and used a different term in describing my issues..Basically when I 1st found the program it didn't seem right from the get go after downloading and installing...i should have known the minute I opened it when upon doing so my pc went dark for about 1 minute and when it came back all my icons on my desktop were missing...and when i attempted to reboot it would not shut down until I unpluggeg it from the outlet...right then i knew i had a problem and when i finally did reboot my virus program started singing.....lol...funny as I explain this now but then....not so much....lol...anyways after running my pc repair it trashed the virus into the abyss and my pc was back to normal.....that's what i meant was that what I thought was a good safe source for getting the Apo program turned out to be a pirate site that tricked me and I'm assuming many others into believing they were getting a leggit copy...Hope this clears up what i was trying to explain before...I did download and instal the link for apo3d and am getting a crash course on were I left off prior to all the issues I stated ..soon to be posting fractals once again...and I do have a few questions but will wait until later before troubling you anymore...Thanks once again Len!
Lenord posted Wed, 14 March 2012 at 10:26 PM
Yeah, I wouldn't trust Apo that came from anywhere but Sourceforge. The Apo7x14 is basically a more stable 3Dhack upgrade, a little more than that maybe. It does everything 3Dhack can with more Bells and Whistles.

Here's 7x Jen. You can still drag triangles around but you don't have to, you can point and click in the Perview window and drag the Image around instead. I like running Scripts over scripts until I find something I want to get serious with.

Thanks very much Len. The dreaded triangles (for me anyway) I never understood them...I'll download it, and when I get into a pickle I'll be back for help.......
