Attached Link: EZSkin 1.7.0
v1.7.0 has been uploadedIt now includes an option to override the bump value used by EZSkin with one of your own choosing. Useful for those occasional cases when EZSkin produces an exaggerated bump.

The only equivalent, which is actually what EZSkin is based on, is Bagginsbill's VSSProp 3 or 4. Those contain templates which do not rely on SSS and need to be applied differently the Snarly's script.

Yes, you can. EZSkin will analyse the skin shader that you have chosen and use the bits it needs from it.
As far the dummy's guide, I think the best thing to do is to post questions here in the forum. That way you're bound to get lots of help because there are lots of EZSkin users here, and I try to watch out for questions too.
On the other hand, if anyone did want to make a dummy's guide I'd be only too happy to see one made! Just don't have the time to make one myself.

You can generally ignore the ezskin.xml file altogether - it's there as an example for those brave souls who want to add support for new figures to EZSkin. EZSkin already supports most figures though.
No, the figure_mats.py script is there to help people who want to edit the XML file. You don't really need that one either. The only thing you need is the EZSkin script itself. It already knows how to add SSS to V4, in all her incarnations.

I have no idea what an eejit is but:
If you change the figures xml then yes it is going to affect how the script is run on the figure (and if not done right will make it not work). V4 should already be included with EZSkin. If you have a figure that's not supported (ie, doesn't have an xml file) then when you try to run the script a window will pop up and say that it's an unsupported figure.
You can of course create your own xml for the figure you want. The easiest way is just to copy one of those that are included, paste it and then change all the material zones to those of the figure you want and assign the skin type.

The primary reason for increased rendering times is the use of fresnel reflection on the ski. Disabling this will save a lot of time. If you don't want to disable it, consider reducing the reflection quality to save some time.
Eye reflections can also be time-consuming - using the original texture's eye reflection maps (if it has them) will save rendering time.
Of course all these time saving techniques will compromise the quality of the end result, but often the reduction in quality is minimal and the time savings considerable.

Is the increased time apparent around the eyes? Transparencies and reflections, will indeed increase render time. But 800%?

Hi guys, I'm still finding my feet again after a long time away from Poser and having found this tool I absolutely love it. So first of all Snarlygribbly, many many thanks sir :o)
Secondly, is there a way to tone down the skin imperfections that become most apparent on SSS setting above 1. By that I mean the spots and blotches etc
I have tried turning SSS down but then that negatively affects the quality of the render.
I've looked in the material room for some sort of map I can remove/edit/lower settings on but not really sure which is the relevant one LOL.
Thanks

It might be an imperfect texture map to begin, or light/render settings might not be optimal. Some screencaps of both light and render settings will help and one for the problem. Perhaps creating a new thread will keep this one clear for update development.
