Subject: Banner Swap

Weez going to change things up with the Banners for the Gallery, the same old Banner staring you in the face when you come to the Fractal Gallery gets old after a bit. So post a Banner of your own design as an attachment here in this thread and we will start changing Banners on a rotational basis every couple of weeks or so. Any type any App, just make sure they have "Renderosity Fractal Gallery" on them with any Font you choose.

Banners should be no larger than 500x125 Jpeg

I should have added that you can do ones for the Forums and Showcase also. Just instead of "Renderosity Fractal Gallery" use "Fractal Forums" or "Fractal Showcase"

Same 500x125 limits

   it's easy for me since I generally use a 2:1 aspect ratio anyway, it's more just reizing any one I have than cropping, unless I want render one to the aspect ratio fo a 500x125.

Sorry, I do not understand what a 2:1 aspect ratio is Len.  Do I just write on an image and then resize the who thing and what size font is the best to use if I were to resize the image 500px125? Flip me.  I can find fractals and that is about my limit.

I use Photoshop Elements 8 for all post work/2D art/banners/buttons ect.....

Really for me it would be hard for me to explain if one wasn't using same program...(not sure what PI is?) ...not familiar with the slang....lol...sorry...

But if you....say .....were using Photoshop then all I do is create  a "new blank image"....in this case....(500 x 125)....and then choose what I'm going to place in the space.Then run it through (sometimes) as many as 25 to 50 variations of different filters until one clicks...save as a jpeg with as much clarity as possible and badda bing badda boom....finished...I know this is probably a weak tutorial and I apologize in advance....but it's basically the way I do it using Photoshop and is the best way I can explain it with what I know....(smiles)....

Here's one with a "green theme".....all fractals in the banners are mini versions or "snips" from my fractal factory series inside my gallery here at Rendo...(smiles)..

@ KW  PI is probably Photo Impact, it's another Image Editor like PS

@ Jen   Aspect Ratio is the ratio of Width to Height so 2:1 is 2 units of width for every 1 unit of height. The old norm was 4:3 which was the aspect ratio of most Monitors (TValso) before Widescreen or say 1024x768 at 2:1 that would be 1024x512. I just got to like the 2:1 because it's a close approximation of the 70mm Panavision ratio I used in MojoWorld.

Turned out the Showcase Banner was a whole different setup than the others so I had to whip up a special one real quick yesterday when getting the Window together. The 500x125 still holds for the Banners for Gallery and Forum, stand by on Banners for the Showcase for now, not exactly sure how to standardize the size on that one but will let everyone know when a size is settled on.

That Avatar reminds me of someone I know at DeviantArt with the initals PKB

I would add this to the Banner rotation for the Gallery except it is 12 pixels too wide. The limits for the Gallery and Forum Banners is 500x125 and for the Showcase Window is 800x125. You can amend the image anyime and I will include it OK.

The dimensions for the Showcase are different, they are 800x125, I can't use this one on the Showcase. You can delete this one and re-upload a Resized version at any time.

How about some Fresh Banners to spruce up the place for 2013

Banners for the Gallery and Forum should be 500x125 and should say either Fractals Gallery or Fractals Forum in some fashion on them

Banners for the Showcase Window should be 800x125 and say Fractals Showcase on them

Is the showcase really 800px wide? Because if I have Firefox maximized, it looks like this, with a grey section. Is there a hard limit to how much the header can expand sideways?

The Page is wider but the space allotted for the Showcase is 800pix, some of it is overlapped by those damn Banner adds down the side at least on my Browser. Most likely how it appears depends on the Browser, also your resolution settings of your monitor, since all the recent updates Rendo is Optimized for Google Chrome (which I despise and refuse to use) and I know when using my IE8 Browser it looks different from when I use my Opera Browser. Here is how the Showcase looks on IE8 which is what I normally use here.

Ah, Rendo optimizations, say no more. I noticed the banner overlapping when I shrunk the window too.

I tested it on Chrome and IE11 and it's the same when the browser is using all 1440px I've got available. Who can change the HTML in the Showcase page? I think that if the width="800" is removed from the image, it degrades more gracefully... the banner looks slightly fuzzy if you've seen the original, but it fills the space and doesn't look like the banner-maker messed up.

I can access the HTML but I'm not a coder, all I do is copy/paste the Banner location where the Banner is located. The Showcase is different than the Forum and Gallery which allow for random rotating of multiple Banners, the Showcase doesn't. Here  is the HTML code for how the Showcase is setup for the Banner, if you can code it for what your talking about I can change it and try it out.

OK, I see what you did, changed from the dimensions to 100%. I changed it and it doesn't make any difference on my Browser, it works fine either way.
Let me know if it works for you

I was wondering if that would make any size Banner fit so I tried one from the Gallery and it didn't fill to 100%
