Subject: Is anyone else having problems with Poser8 not detecting Flash11?

Getting;

"Alternative HTML content should be placed here. This content requires the Adobe Flash Player. Get Flash"

instead of a library.

Note. Not prepared to reinstall... that's what 'helplines' use to brush off customers. Flash works fine. P not detecting it via Python. Ideas?

Or is it just me?

If I can be bothered, I could edit;

.../Runtime/ui/Flex/LSMGUI/bin-release/LSMGUI.html

or even p*ss right around the outdated;

.../Runtime/ui/Flex/LSMGUI/bin-release/AC_OETags.js

to correct their bugs BUT is there an easier, less cludgy fix and besides I'm not on their payroll so why should I have to?

TIA

Do you have a browser on your machine other then IE? Sometimes having other browsers (like Chrome) causes multiple installs of flash and this confuses Poser. Try uninstalling all browsers other than IE, and re-installing flash.

The easier, less-kludgy fix might be Poser 9. grin

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

It's some time ago, but if I recall properly, the Poser 8 Library (having Flash embedded), an explicit Flash implementation (say in IE, looking YouTube or alike) and Google Chrome (has Flash embedded) had problems to co-exits at the same moment. At runtime that is, I had them all installed but could not have all three opened simultaneously.

Re-installing doesn't help.

I solved the problem first by using something else for librarian (P3dO actually), later the issue disappeared when I had Poserpro2010 and its Library running on Adobe AIR. I'm not sure if Poser8 Lib can run on AIR.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though

I use Firefox. I'd rather kill than use IE.

I have no intention of uninstalling and re-installing anything.

BTW I have actually run a company helpdesk... 'reinstall' is what one tells the annoying customers, the ignorant plebs, to brush them off when one is on the phone. There's always a fix for the registry or a patch that fixes it properly. If the programming team can't be bothered... the policy becomes "you need to uninstall X and reinstall Y and..."

Legally, it makes the problem the user's. G*d forbid it become's the software vendors!

Perhaps it's easier to hand-edit JavaScript to force it to 'return 9' as I originally intended!

So no real fix then.

As I suspected.

Thanks anyway.

lol, ditto. I haven't used IE in years, and refuse to again. That's the biggest PoS browser available.

I use Chrome, cause for some reason Firefox doesn't like my machine, but I'd be using that if I could.

And for the record, I've had no problems with PP 2012 so far, sorry can't help you with 8, never used it.

Since you don't use IE, you could try uninstalling Flash, installing the Flash for IE that is included with Poser 8, and installing only the FF Flash 11 plugin...

i use Firefox, installing flash for IE doesnt interfere with it.... i hate IE but we who use windows are stuck with it, if you uninstall IE , guess what, its still there in the background logging all our activities.. it logs everything we do in firefox or any browser...even if we use the 'in private function',everything we do period...download CCleaner from CCleaner.com (its free) and run it if you dont beleive me, run an analisis and you will see that everything we do is logged through IE temporary internet files,including a log of things i open that exist on my hard drive... every video i watch at CNN is still on my machine...all the tutorial videos are saved.... even if i dont finish watching them..deleting them doesnt get rid of them, they're still accessable...

i run CCleaner daily to clear my PC of all these log files ...it runs on shutdown, or startup if you desire...it also has 128bit encryption to overwrite all freespace ... i never do anything that may be of interest to anyone , i just dont like being tracked and logged...PERIOD...its invading my privacy and is not in my best interrest...

:O(

Y'all have a great day.
