Subject: Ecosystem objects penetrate each other

Hi All,

I'm making a pile of coins as an ecosystem. These VOB coins are made in Vue 9 Complete as a pair of cylinder sections in a difference boolean.

When I pile them up in an ecosystem, they interpenetrate each other. What to do?

Tried setting for other than "billboard" type instances, but that just crashes Vue.

Ideas?

Thanks All!

Wait for particle generation in Vue?  I've always had to use physics in other apps when piling things.

have u tried this option ?: in the mat editor/Density/''Avoid overlapping instances''',

...u may wind up having to export the vobs out as obj's then add the obj's to the mat eco system (and use the 'mat editor/Density/''Avoid overlapping instances' option)

Thanks Mary!

Figured it out last night. Your fix IS what worked.

I made a new gold coin in Silo 3D, imported it as .3DS, applied materials and saved out as .VOB, then populated using that "Avoid overlapping instances" as you suggest, but also floated the instances by 2 feet with that "Absolute offset from surface".

Now I have to dull down the reflections on the gold coins, such that reflections of coins higher in the stack don't "look" like interpenetration, lol.

Thanks for the help - problem resolved now   :o)
