will M4's clothes (& hair) fit M5 ?

I'm not sure about the hair but the autofit should help with the m4 clothes.

i figure if autofit helps with main genesis,it should work with characters:) i've not tried it yet myself.

k...maybe someone that knows for sure will also reply.....would really like to know for sure before i buy, sure can't afford to buy M5 a new wardrobe,lol

Yes, with autofit or CCT (both in the free DS4Pro) M4 clothes can be fit to any Genesis character.

Shoes will probably be an issue, but if you have the CCT you can just scale down M4 to the base genesis' size and pose and export an obj of just the shoes, then bring them back in and rig them. The shoes will fit better that way.
There's some info on the daz forums about how to do it.

actually most generation 4 clothing will fit on genesis and V5 and M5 through auto fit
