I've found what looks like another bug in Carrara, but maybe i'm missing something ... I've modelled this guy in the vertex modeller . When i export in the OBJ format and import the model back in Carrara, all the edges appear smooth ( look at the belt and the suspenders ). There is an option that lets you set the smooth angle when you import an obj file, but it looks like it doesn't work in this case . Does anybody have an explaination, or a workaround ? I hope my model won't appear like that in Poser when i'll get it ! litst

Litst, are you importing the object as facet meshes or vertex primitives? I get better control of the results when I import it as a vertex primitive. The edges are all reset to smooth, but I can go in and crease them as I need to. I also import the object as "Only One Group". Above is the screen shot of the settings I've had the best luck with. I'm not sure what happens to creased edges when you import the obj into poser. I'll try to experiment with my Poser after work tonight and see if I find out anything helpful.

I import the object as facets, because vertex primitive makes me lose some UV coordinates and makes some seams appear where the body parts are joined . Something strange ... I've imported the casual man in OBJ that was with the demo of Poser and the smoothing option worked perfectly . There were seams, though . I'd be curious to know how Poser handles smooth/crease settings . Terri, could you please test this for me ? Poser isn't a cheap bones plug-in ! If only Carrara had ones ... :( litst litst.@freesbee.fr
