Just been over for a bit of a browse in the store. So slow at the moment, went to Clothing-accesories-dresses&clubwear, 1st page loaded slower than usual but not too bad, but, page 3 was 4 mins and counting, logged out and tried again same deal. Hope it's just an air lock in the system.

I agree. A while back, one of the largest model railroad forums did a software update that was only supposed to take a few minutes. The forum was down for days. As software gets more complicated, this will probably happen more often. It will be back, eventually.

DAZ just tries to make everyone happy....right now with the store and site changing over to a new format, they are making all the trolls happy. The people who come out to post all their crap about how bad daz is and how this is proof of how bad things are.
Nothing makes these people happier it seems. Look at all the posts by the known trolls lately, they are happy as pigs rolling around in their own crap LOL
But yeah...anyone who has ever worked on major websites knows that changeovers will take time to work the bugs out. I know daz staff have been working late hours trying to get things done. There is not much more anyone can do, but wait till they get it done. It takes man-hours to do and there are only so many hours in a day.
It sucks for me as well...because I have a new product release, so when the site isnt working well...it makes it hard to sell. So I have to be as patient as everyone else, and hope its going to be running soon.
So right now we can let thr trolls have their fun and and enjoy these times. They need to have fun too. Because it must be very frustrating for them to bang their heads against the wall trying to show how bad daz is doing, and their head banging is not causing any problems as daz just keeps growing. That would be very frustrating I am sure. So now they can have a little bit of fun and release some of their pent up tensions LOL

Thanks for reposting this, Cho, since the other thread where Richard had posted it got deleted. In case anyone asks, you don't seem to be able to access threads/forums that are member-only, which makes sense because you'd need to log in to read those and you can't log in at the old site. Hopefully they'll eventually find a way to allow members to access the old member threads, too. I'm sure that's not a priority right now.

I'm in the same boat - not getting GC codes (or sales confirmations) though other people are. The machine was kicked and sent another copy of my GC code, which still didn't come. I'd suggest, to anyone who hasn't yet tested this with a full purchase, that if you want to get a GC you try a $1 one first and buy a full value one only if that works. I have added this to the list I sent to DAZ, but it does seem to be patchy so it may be that they need to figure out why more emails are being caught in spam traps all of a sudden. If you aren't getting GCs, please PM me the email address you use for the DAZ store - that way it may be possible to spot a common element.

...thank you. Bookmarked for now.
At first tried the eamil links, and nada. Wasn't sure if the old forum was down as well due to archiving. When I archived my forum reminder emails from only the last four and a half years, there were over 15,000 files. I can only imagine how much nine years of posts and images would take up.
While I never worked in web development I was involved in multi-media (CD ROM based) development and programming back in the old usenet days. I do understand, especially considering the company I worked for at the time was sailing in uncharted waters so to say, that best laid plans can often go awry or just take longer than expected to implement.
Considering that other forum sites don't always have a store (which needs to protect it's customers account information) galleries, and support pages associated with them it makes sense why this would take a bit longer.
Having a much improved website in the end wil be worth it.

Slightly OT, but just a small query . Where it says "compatible software" does that mean the item will only work with that software? I listed a V4 hair item which is perfect for my needs but it only mentions Carrara in the software. I use DS and Bryce.

OK, mea culpa time - I had tried buying a $1 GC for Ann and I thought she had received it, but apparently not. So as far as we know GC purchases at the moment are simply not working. The orders are, however , being logged so this should be correctable. I'd still be interested in knowing email addresses and whether or not you are receiving order confirmations, as those seem to be very iffy on the new store.

I posted this on the thread about funny requirements, but seems relevant here:
Quote - Something else I've noticed is that I seem to be getting someone else's wishlist in the store view (such as here if you are logged in). Also, yesterday it had a link "Not <some guy's name>?" at the top, like I was logged into someone else's account, and it had his (huge) wishlist on the page. Fortunately when I went to my account details it was my account. I also bought my order twice (luckily only about $7) because the final page of the order confirmation didn't come up, and I didn't get an email. Of course, like an idiot, I went through the order again. Still no order confirmation but some time later I got two emails and the order was in my downloads twice. Zendesk isn't working so I can't report this, but it's not a huge deal—I can wait.
The notification emails didn't take that long (afraid I can't remember) but longer than usual. (I should have known better than to try the order again.)

Not a bad business idea, give away the out-dated old to try and sell the new, but for now I'm firewalling DS4Pro from updating. Genesis is and DS4Pro is Awesome, Way better than all the V3,V4 and compatible put together. I can Remap UV's, Make my own morphs with Sculptris and FaceGen, Paint MY OWN textures in Sculptris, Make Any Clothes I want, and even Export to UDK with animation!! ..... I agree, you shouldn't install the Release Candidate, unless you're prepared for what can happen.
I've never had Daz 4 try to update itself. If DS4 tries to access the internet, Zone Alarm will ask me and I'll tell it no, so I'm not worried, myself. I don't install Release Candidates of anything, if I've got a functional Full Release installed. I'm not that curious. (And the real release will come out before I know it).
(I might've told Studio not to check for updates, on the first install, and it stuck. I don't remember).
All I ever get is Zone alarm mis-identifying CMS's loopback, on the net card, as "The Internet", but it's never tried to "phone home", either. (I check the logs).
Tomsde posted Sun, 20 May 2012 at 11:24 PM
If this is the same as all of Daz Studios other updates, have no fear about Daz Studio Pro 4 auto updating. Every Daz Studio update to date has been a new installation, not a patch--so essentially you have to uninstall the old version and install the new one as a new installation--it should pick up on your content and preferences when you start a new version up--but as stated above other things may not work. NO Betas for me, I'll ust sit back and use the version of Daz Studio 4 Pro I have. This version of DS, for meanyhow, has been the most stable one I've had to date.
My solution to not having plug-ins work with later versions is not to buy any. I do hope that Studio does stabilize in the future and that newer versions will have backward compatibility with older plug-ins and content. One thing I've always admired about Poser is that it has excellent content backward compatibility--I just had a a few based items that were not upgraded and are now essentially unuseable.

"Don't get the DS 4.5 Beta, if you Wanted/Got the DS4-Pro give-away."
There is no charge for the 4.5 update and I strongly suspect that before long (if not already) the free version that people receive will be 4.5.
"It says right in the review that the OLD PLUGINS WON'T WORK! "
Till they are recompiled to work with the new SDK. DAZ will update all of the plugin's it owns and most other people will as well. It is unlikely anyone will charge for those upgrades. It is doubtful however that plug in's not updated to version 4 will be. Though since the SDK has not be finalized till now some may be.
"Not a bad business idea, give away the out-dated old to try and sell the new,"
The new will be free as far as anyone knows.
"but for now I'm firewalling DS4Pro from updating. "
That feature is not functional at this time anyway.

Some really nice new features in DS 4.5 RC. If you don't use the plugins too much it is really worth trying. Quicker UI, better file format, better database management and then brand new functions such as Node instances and Geometry shell. If you are no DAZ techie wait for the full release though as you won't need these things immediately.
Tomsde posted Mon, 21 May 2012 at 5:35 AM
I'm just a casual user, I don't need those new features except for the fast interface--so to me it's worth waiting until the official version comes out of Beta. I'm still hoping for better backward compatibility with geometry switchin fixed, but I'm not holding my breath. Can someone with 4.5 try loading up M2 and let us know if geometry switching and his morph dials are working again?

I haven't purchased a gift certificate in the new store, but the problem may precede the change. My ISP is Comcast and I never got the confirmation and number of a GC I purchased a week before the change. I only got it through cust support.
I'm also not receiving confirmations of purchases at the new store--which would be a new problem since my Comcast account received them before.

I know that changes are hard work. I have to manage such things on a site myself and there's plent of fire-fighting. However, unable to log in I'm completely in the dark.

Oh hey thanks. Now I can access the geo-graft tutorial and hammer out some stuff. I was looking for the forum archive but failed my Search roll...
I is mildly sad, though. My purchase (60s kitchen + Ren outfit) is still pending, even if the other purchase (Aidan + some 1.99 stuff) came through just fine. Not in a huge hurry, frankly, I got my hands full with other things, but it'd be nice. I have received confirmation mails, but then again, I run my own server and I have black- and whitelists out of wazoo. FYI: some have reported problems with installing downloaded content from the new store, I have been lucky, I s'pose, mine were perfectly intact.
Also, FYI: I found a cool feature from DS4.5! It has "Add push modifier" right below "Add smoothing modifier"! What it does? Well, apply it to, say, hair or clothes, and then you can manually jiggle the airspace between figure and clothes! AWESOME. So glad I managed to grab it before the site update.
All in all: I truly feel for DAZ Studio, knowing what kind of hell software changes can wreck; my own server upgrade resulted three sleepless nights, four days, and in the end, I solved it with money -- I bought a new NIC since I did not feel like retro-porting a NIC driver from an older system and fighting it some more, since 14 euros solved the problem. (By the way, it works much, much better now with the new NIC -- responses are notably faster. Eff you, NVidia, eff you and your embedded NICs.)
Now, hugs and kisses to everyone, users and DAZ people alike. This will get better. It may have a worse dip somewhere still, but it'll get better.

Hmm, could this be the cause of the weird behaviour I was seeing? Whenever I clicked from one page to another — it apparently didn't matter which, whether inside or outside the account pages —
Some of this went away (or at least became consistent) if I did a hard refresh on every page, which seems to mesh with what someone said about a caching problem. Honestly, though, I don't think I've seen a site misbehave like this since before I switched from IE4 to the Firefox prerelease beta.
Lots more to say about things that IMHO need to be tweaked/changed/killed with fire, but that can wait until after we're all settled in on the new forums. Hopefully ess ooo ooo en...

I've cleaned everything out, including all cookies. The problem started when the new site decided my password was too short and refused to let me in. I should be able to reset the password but the reset mail is not coming through.
I'm going through, adjusting filter settings on the mail account in case the reset mail is being mistaken for spam - I've had that before trying to register two different forums. As a back up I've created a new email address to register again and take things from there.

4.5 does have some interesting new additions, and the "Edit" menu now holds some interesting production tools I don't seem to have in 4 Pro. Here are a few oddities from the store: When browsing the store, say you view a product, then use the browser's back button and then go forward again. The list of required products sometimes changes! Also, when using the browser's forward and back buttons in a category, the sort order and criteria do persist (yay!), but sometimes the last item or row of items on one page are replicated on the top of the next page.
See? They should have asked me to beta test this thing before going online. I would have filed at least 20 reports a day.

I notice a couple of new goodies have just appeared in the New Releases page. I hope DAZ realises that a lot of people, including me, have no trust in the secure and efficient operation of the store in its current state. I certainly won't buy anything else, or even put anything else into my cart or wishlist, until it's fixed.
So why are they putting up another $1 special (with no closing date — again) at a time when none of us know when the site will be properly operational again? There shouldn't be any more limited-time offers until we know we'll be able to download what we bought. (And yes, my last purchase is still "pending" and the order is tagged as "complete"... and everything I bought is still in my cart.) Both of the new items are things I want to buy anyway, which only adds to the annoyance.
I really feel sorry for the vendors of all the new stuff in the firing line, this must be having a terrible effect on them. Hopefully sales will recover once all the "interesting times" are over.

I just bought one of the two new products. Everything went fine in that I got what I wanted, went through the process, and got the file.
(I haven't tried to install yet. Will do that in a bit)
I did have on problem though. I returned from the product page to click the 'add to cart' button from the main page. The item was the first one on the page. I clicked the button, a message came up saying I had added a different item to the cart. I looked down and sure enough, the two thumbnails had switched positions but it didn't show up until the page refreshed with the 'added to cart notice'.
I simply added the one I wanted, then deleted the one I didn't and continued on.
Heads up. Otherwise the process was much much better than the other day. And once in the cart it was secure pages all the way.

Install for Regency? No problems.
The error log shows no problems beyond the usual (injectpmd whinge, since I went and updated to 4.5RC1).
I realize that the plural of anecdote is not "data", but, maybe others could share their experiences of Tuesday and onward purchases?
I still can't get my wishlist (because it chokes the system), but at least the last two purchase bundles have worked to me, with the very first one (which was made as soon as the new site went live) still pending (so 2-1 in success stories), but Ann forwarded my e-mail onward to Customer Service and said they will deal with the pending purchase.

I'm hesitant to order anything else ... fortunately, there isn't much being offered to tempt me.
I absolutely hate the Itemized Order History. It's worse than useless with no way to sort by date, order no, or product name. Default at least should be by newest date first.

The Itemised Order History is sorted by product name - it looks odd because there are some items with punctuation (such as quotes) in front of the name and those are shown first. Once you go to the second page the page number is in the URL so it is possible, at least as a work-around for now, to edit that by guessing where you need to be to hit the product name (I have a huge list and didn't find it too time-consuming to get some resets, though it is annoying to have to use even a simple work-around for a limitation).

I found navigating the order history to request a reset initally confusing, but soon realised it was sorted as you described. I was very impressed that after requesting a reset the item was there in my downloads within seconds.

I made a few instances of hitomi and things started to slow down so when I tried to delete them. After the instance node itself is gone you can actually select the instances directly to try and delete that way.
SatiraCapriccio posted Wed, 23 May 2012 at 6:16 PM
I realized it was ordered alpha and that products with numbers or non letter characters appear first. But, I also used the itemized list to copy the product name, order number, and order date into an excel spreadsheet. It was easier to do that then to open the order page and copy the relevant bits from different locations on the order page ... especially, when I didn't populate my spreadsheet immediately, so had more than one order to grab. Unfortunately, that's what I now have to do, and it is rather ... annoying.
Still, what makes the itemized order history most cumbersome is not being able to display the entire list on one page which then allows you to easily use browser Find.
As horrendous as the in-house store/forums must have been to maintain, they provided a far better customer experience. But that is one of the advantages of in-house

Quote - Ok I just got my self Popcorn and Beer.. don't need my TV anymore since I went to visit DAZ today after a While . joining Beth QQQ and all Daz Optimists
Well What a show I go on first page tell ya guys its action , well nothing new since a week so I go to page two then three ... well pretty boring since it is still the same as 5 day's ago, so I decide to go back on first Page .... and woooow new stuff appeared but hell where did the stuff go I saw the first time I enter the Daz New releases , I have to admit the figures well Promos look great at least it is not a frozen Image anymore .. It's Alive ... I naturally Quote kylumi giving me the inspiration with his Dog for extreme situations... back to the Page!! thinking what news could Daz have on the second page I make my way though to hit the link , oohh boy more new stuff well but the GIS expansion I saw at the beginning disappeared , now where did it go?? .....so after one page after the other no luck! and the New Jeep is also gone ! desperate I search for them. Ok time to restart the browser and start from scratch and jupiii GIS and Jeep are back on front but all the news are gone !!!
there must be a system to all this ... well I mean a mathematical one .... so I do the same as previously ... I solved the Puzzle !!!
I say Popcorn and Beer because I see Newbies creating great sites, Children creating forums and whole working websites with stores
and they do them in a half a day with no glitches, I even believe that allot of you in here also have experienced how easy

Nice to see Gate, for me this was a really good read. I know how you feel buddy.
I would be the first to admit that i'm a Daz fanboy....but, the changes are kinda overwhelming [even for me]. I am hoping that with time I will accept it but, it reminds me of those forums you used to get 15 years ago...
But, I understand that changes are being made.......
It does not help being devoid of graphical content.....I am sure when that part is corrected it will make a major difference to the experience.
ROFL ......I nearly put GRAPHIC CONTENT.......I bet that would grab someones attentions!!!

At least part of the problem seems to be that the new website somehow manages to push old cached pages at us, instead of assembling a new up-to-date page from the current store database and pushing that. I've been getting into the habit of force-reloading each store page as I look at it, and that does help, but I still get frequent most-recent-musical-chairs and now-you-see-it-now-you-don't sale prices.
Ah well, at least I now finally managed to download the stuff I bought last Saturday. Maybe I'll buy more stuff I want to get this weekend.
