I noticed that when you insert and edit a link in the forum it defaults to open the link in the same page.
Wouldnt it be better if the link opened in a new window? That will keep people from straying away from Rendo while following a link.

With the ability of most browsers now to right-click a link and open a new window or tab, I don't see a reason to make links open in a new window mandatory. This gives users more of a choice I think
Thanks for the suggestion tho :)

Hi!
Didnt say it should be mandatory, just wanted it to be the default/preselected value in the drop down list.
So that people would need to change the value for the link to open in the same window, instead of changing the value for the link to open in a new window.

Yet, still most people simply left-click on a link and leaves the original site....

Which means any user left clicking the link would have the page open in another window/tab right?
Most users left click a link, and those who don't use tabs or windows views expect the page to open in the same window..those who use tabs and windows views know to rightclick and choose how they want the link to open.
Also, when users post a link I would think they would just post the link and not look at all the options and just go with whatever is highlighted by default...so if it were defaulted to open in a new window, it would basically be a mandatory new window opening...which could become quite annoying for those who are not used to using tabbed/new window viewing.
It's a nice idea tho wanting to keep members on the site, but we don't want to annoy those who dont use that feature as well..the way it is now I think gives users the best choice of how they want to view links.
Thanks!
