The mask needs work, and I still have to make gloves and boots and a good belt.

I did a quick render with the two of them in the same frame. Kind of a photo op I guess.

They are looking good. This is a good genre to model in, and you seem to have a good handle on the niche.

By that you mean Tim Drake (Red Robin)?

Now if I could, I'd find a way to age Ben a bit and use him as Tim. But his frame is a bit too small. Tim became Red Robin as a teenager. Ben is about 10 years old, I think.

I think Tim was 13 when he started his training, but I can't remember how old he was when he officially became Robin.

Actually, he was 9 when he first started the training, and donned the costume for the first time at 13. But that's alright. He was in costume well into his teens. I think I will forgo doing Red Robin, and just stick with what I have so far. Even though Dick is estranged from Batman in the comic world, they fight together in mine...
As a matter of fact, I will use the render as the basis of the story. They reunite after taking down some bad guys together, and posing for this pic for a reporter.

It's a blast! I had stopped doing it for awhile, so it's like finding that favorite toy in the bottom of the box after not playing with it for awhile.

IMO, Damien is the best Robin ever. The costume would look good with some high leg Doc Martens boots. :)

I saw that costume when I was doing a search on google. I liked the Nightwing costume best. And I am still working on the boots and gloves. I've seen versions of Robin with batman's costume and Robin's colors. Didn't like it. And after all the problems I have had with cowl, I want to leave that alone. I fixed his mask to fit his face better and offer a bit more camoflauge. I should have a real update by the end of the weekend.

I will give that some serious thought. I was going to model some generic hero boots, but I like that idea. It will take me some time, but I think the results would be worth it.

Just for fun after reading this I took Ben2 to Blender and did a fast FBM to make him look more like a young teen, here the morph is set to 0.75 if you find it somehow useful just send me mesage, now trying to make it a pmd injection.

I like what you did. When you load Ben into Poser, his figure height is set on Ideal Adult. If you change him, it does weird things to his mesh. I wish I was better at Blender, but I know if I do anything to him, I will have to re-rig him, and I've never done that. I may have to ask the wife if I can spend a little bit of money and buy some new characters...

ima70 posted Sun, 15 July 2012 at 7:21 PM
About Blender, you can do a extreme morph and not to need to re-rig him, if you need advice about how to do Blender Morph or the tools I use for that just ask me, here I morphed James too with a set of morph I did some years ago wile lerning the sculpt tool, to a more "heroic" shape I think :-S
About the height, don't use the menu Figure height, that iss terrible bad, here I scaled his legs abdomen and body, it was really fast and nothing weird happend to his mesh.
About new characters, I don't know if you know that Apollo is free, and is a great character with lot of posibilities (even face room suport), very light weight in resources compared to others, here he is with the teen ADS_scale dial set to 0.7 and with a bodysuit I modeled in Blender, that is not perfect, but it was useful for me.
All the best.

Here is Apollo Maximus, read carefully everything and download everything, specially all parts of the basic set up (1 to 8, 4 never abailable :-( so I did my own bodysuit ), after installing take the time to explore all posibilities and play with all options he has because is a little diferent in concept compared to most "standard" poser figures. Unfortunately, a big forum posts at Content paradice about his use and features has been lost, so if you need help just don't doubt to ask.All the best.

I am downloading the first 3 parts right now. My internet connection is a bit wonky tonight, and even with my download manager it's taking some time. I will make sure I download all of it before I do anything with it. I don't know if I will get all of it tonight, but I will make a good try of it.

Cool! I got Apollo downloaded and installed. I am going to take a few days and see what I can do with him. Even if I don't use him as Batman, it looks to be a cool character to play with. Honestly, I think he would make a cool Bane...

Apollo is a cool character, it's realy fun to morph and scale him in twisted ways you can't do with other figures, that's what I like about him, you can make mean and ugly villains or monsters untill your imagination ends, he is not designed to play only the male model role.

And a Nightwing mask here:

Apollo is one of the great figures. Hunt down Carodan's presets and you'll find he can be both Batman and Robin just fine.

Thanks, but as I posted in the other thread I started, I am doing this simply as an exercise to learn modelling. Right now I am simply using the body mesh of the Poser characters to learn to manipulate vertices and so forth. The only props that I made myself on any of the characters I have used is the cowl on batman and the cape I was using since my Green Lightning character (see my avatar). But I will check out what you have on ShareCG. I love the texture you have on the Batman Suit. How did you accomplish that? Is it a skin texture or a modelled bodysuit?

joequick posted Wed, 18 July 2012 at 8:47 PM
It's just a set of tiles, bump, disp, normal, specular and diffuse maps applied to apollo's body. If you search filter forge for "hex", you should be able to find the sample maps in 600 by 600 resolution.
joequick posted Wed, 18 July 2012 at 8:53 PM
I was wrong, you'll never find it searching for hex. Here it is.
