I have John Stallings's cr2 Editor 1.51, but I would very much like to be able to cut and paste blocks of code to speed a rather tedious process. With this editor you can only copy one line at a time. Is there a better option out there?

*I just took a look at it. You can select and paste columns. All of the morph deltas are open, but I can hide them. Once that's done, this should do the trick. Thanks.

Phil, would love to be able to use this... but I'm on a mac for Poser.

Don't suppose you've any plans for an OS X version?

I'm guessing not, as I'd imagine you'd be looking at a rewrite in cocoa, or what have you, to achieve that, as opposed to a port...

...I'm guessing, from the screenshots and the look of the controls used, that it's written in a Microsoft-specific language currently?

It was written in Python then compiled into an EXE on a PC.

In the early stages of development I included code to enable the raw script to run in Poser. That became redundant when I compiled it but the code is still there. Just ran it again on Poser on my PC, looks OK.

Then took the files over to the Mac and ran it in Poser Pro 2012. Again OK with some slight formatting issues. Button lables a little too big for the button but nothing major.

Since my Mac already has a stand alone installation of Python I was able to run it that way too.

monkeycloud if you would like to email me I'll be happy to set up a download so that you can test on a Mac. I would need your full name and address to enable me to generate your personal serial file.

At work, we use both cr2 Editor and cr2 Builder (and now that I know Phil has a PZ3 editor, I'll be picking that up too).  They all have strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks for the information. I will try the PZ3editor shortly. The download link for the CR2 Builder is not working. Last updated 2007. I may have missed the boat on that one.

To be accurate, you can copy an actor line, for example, and all the associated lines will come with it. However I can see that would still be frustrating in your application.

Despite hosting the CR2 Editor download I personally prefer Dimension3D's Poser File Editor (which is Windows only, sorry Mac peeps!)

The above link for CR2Builder worked for me. CR2Builder02150408.zip seems to be the most recent version, I downloaded it, but have not installed that version yet.

I'm using Notepad++ too.  I setup my own "User Define Langauge" for "Poser".  If you are interested, you can download it from https://sites.google.com/site/amyaimei/notepad/poser.xml

To import the settings to Notepad++:

1. Select View menu from the menu bar.

2. Select User Defined Dialogue... from the View menu.

3. At the User Defined Language Window, click the "Import..." button, then browse to the poser.xml, click OK.

In any case I've now got a hopefully mac/osx lion friendly python version of PhilC's PZ3Editor utility to try out...

Couldn't test it last night as Poser was mid render on something still... so couldn't relaunch it... but I'll be giving it a test drive tonight and will let Phil know how it goes.

PoserFileEditor, hands down no questions

Its the swiss army knife for editing all sorts of psoer files, and often in ways unintended by by the makers of Poser heh

The documentation is a bit ... welll .. written by a programmer. Sometimes its very thorough while at the same time being utterly incomprehensible.

There are automated filters and so forth for common tasks such as converting cr2's into poses (of various sorts), filtering out morphs and so on.  All in all what I consider one of the must-have tools

I downloaded the version without an installer and just ran it from my desktop.

Having just purchased and tried PoserFileEditor, it is remarkable how quickly it opens my bloated cr2. Everything else I've tried churns and churns. Also, once I figured out how to select, copy and paste, it became easy to replicate partial blocks of coding in multiple channels. It's expensive, but I think it's worth it.

I tried the free version of PZ3Editor and thought it worth the few dollars to purchase the full version.

Today was the first chance I had to check it on creating the pz2 files from mc6 and to remove the abosolute parths they contained.

Both tasks were completed in much less time than it took me with Wordpad, Cr2editor or Notepad++, my money was well spent. :)

QFT. PFE tops it out for me.  I use it more than anything else.  Ralf is always an approachable vendor as well.

My favorite is CR2Builder because I agree with the design a bit more (multiple pane, easy to drag nodes, etc) but it drags and chokes on very large Poser files which are going to become more the norm in the future with WM tech.

Notepad++ is great for a non-treeview editor but is is better suited as a programmers editor (I use it for python).  It is very slow on moderately large files.  But for pissing around with Material Files and Poses, it is fine.

If anyone has an idea of a text file editor that doesn't choke on large files and isn't alien in design, I'm on the lookout for one :)

I use EditPad Pro for large textfiles, to me it seems pretty fast.

It loads a 500mb pz3 in less than a second, scolling is fast , searching is fast, lots of features and built-in tools

 

I've made the switch to Poser File Editor recently. Love it. Very cool app.

Each app has it's strengths and weaknesses, Poser File Editor kicks ass. I also use Notepad and CR2 Editor.
