Hello
I am using Vue infinite 10,5
Maybe it is only an impression but my feeling is that this version takes more time than previous versions to render
What is your experience ?
Thanks

Hi.
Yeah, 10.5 renders the same scene slower.
Also different. See examples.
Vue Infinite 5 [32Bit] (Duo Core2 2.53Ghz P8700)
Same scene in Vue Infinite 10.5 PLE [64Bit] (Duo Core2 2.53Ghz P8700)
Maybe 10.5 is focused on better quality and realism? I like the 5 Infinite render more thought..

Two different programs there. I don't think they can really be compared to one another. You can compare 9.5 to 10.5 though.

As Shawn says really hard to compare. I'm guessing you didn't switched all of Vue 10.5's render settings down to the same as Vue 5's?

Both 'Final' setting.
Ofcourse it is a different program, and hard to compare.., but that wasn't Martial's point.

If you want to compare old with new you have to do it with comparable settings otherwise we're into the territory of feeling. As a software developer I have the T-shirt for that one after someone said something took 3 hours that normally took a couple of minutes in an earlier version later admit he'd had a bottle of wine to drink and fallen asleep at the computer! Turned out it was now about 10s faster after log analysis.
Judging from your renders I'm guessing the two are using different atmosphere models? That can be a major player in rendering speed and that tends to balance out speed improvements from one version to the next.

I understand.
All I did was importing the same scene file into 10.5 and checked the pointlight settings (softness and power) and the atmosphere model.
In this case it is the standard model with GI. In Vue Infinite 5 and 10.5 PLE.
I double checked it again to be really sure.
I understand that 10.5 & 5 not really could be compared.. but this project is faster rendered in 5. Why? Maybe because 10.5 is way better in realism and that maybe increased the render time?
What else could I check in 10.5 PLE?

For one thing, don't use final. Use user settings for rendering. Chek that texture and object AA is the same for both apps. Check the world scale units in both so they match. I have Vue 5I scenes that load in Vue 10I and the renders look the same, and they render faster in Vue 10I.
Also, what gamma setting did you use in both programs?

And is displacement enabled in Vue 10.5I even though you may have it set at zero for your bump map?
Is auto-exposure and natural film response set the same?

Ok. That proves that just importing the Vue5Inf scene into Vue10Inf and checking basic settings is'nt enough to compare the rendertime records.
If I'm correct it does prove that Vue10Inf enable more settings that not existed in Vue5Inf or those settings are enable by default in Vue10Inf and are not saved to the project save file. Maybe that is the rendertime 'feeling' Martail is talking about?

Apps have three settings to them. Some are set in the app's config. Some are saved in the scene file. Some are built into the app's calculations.
For a huge difference, load a Vue 4 scene into Vue 10. I think a converter is needed to even do it.
