I posted a question regarding PhotoShop for 3D and, specifcally, for texturing Poser/DAZ characters here: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2853530. I used the PhotoShop forum rather than this one because, well, it was mainly a "how to do this in PhotoShop" question. But, I wanted to put a link here because this is a more frequented forum than is the PhotoShop forum, and I was hoping maybe someone here could help!

ISTR posting in APS forum, but OS X technique is:
go to file:open menu
navigate to uv-mapped obj file that is referenced by poser cr2 file (or maybe daz file, if those reference ob files)
open obj file
paint directly on 3d layer or
paint on 2d layer representing uvmap, which will show up on 3d layer
is almost as slow renderer as luxrender or maxwell IMVHO

Thanks. I'll give this a try.

But what I am after is a way to load two layers of UV maps, say, for the torso, then apply a layer mask to the top layer and blend in some of the bottom layer.

one double-clicks (OS X) a material zone in the 3d layer screen, e.g. torso, then it opens a 2d layer. by default in APSE, there is only one layer per material zone, but more can be added for blending purposes. however, this blending operation can be done in the poser material room. the latter is one of the FAQs here, usually in ref. to tattoos. you may wish to ask the mods to move this thread to APS forum.

Thanks again. Yes, I use the material room for things like tattoos, but I'm trying to learn how to do some of this stuff in PS, and blending skin textures may be better suited to PS if I can figure it out. I will try your double-click suggestion - see if Windows 7 is the same deal.
