Subject: I need help with figure creation

I am working on a new Star Figure Jar Jar Binks and I am running into all sorts of issues (see attached image). I am looking for help with this figure, it will be a freebie when it gets done. Can anyone suggest or tell me where I am going wrong?

Well, that really all depends on how you've rigged it and if that rig is completed yet or not.  Can we get a shot of it in the setup room. Which version of Poser are you using and did you setup the joints yet or any deformers for the joints?

Here is a screenshot of the setup room, there are no deforms, I don't  know how to create them, I think that might be the issue. I am using Poser 8 SR3 applied, I also have Poser Pro 2012. I have not touched this figure yet in PP2012.

 

How I created the figure was import the obj file, spawned props and then used the heirarchy editor to create the figure.

is it this one?  there were some free binkses at the various starwars sites.

this one was rigged by attaching it to a bvh in carrara. but it couldn't do the ears.

If you look at your setup you should be able to see some flaws already. The position of the bones versus the position of the geometry they control in this case automatically will require additional clean up to correct. Alternatively, you could repostion the bones from wtihin the setup room so that they better line up with the center of their corresponding body parts. 

 

From there, you can return to the Pose room and then adjust the angles for the bones using the Joint Editor. While in the Joint Editor, you can also add fall offs for each bone (that's what the capsules and sphericals are).  You may find you'll get better results in Poser Pro 2012, so you may want to use that for joint editing and weight map creation (a feature not in Poser 8). Lastly, understand that this will take some trial and error. It is the rare figure that works right from the start, so don't put too much pressure on yourself to get things working right away and don't be afraid to ask for help if you run into trouble.

Here's a shot of the Joint Editor and a deformer/falloff capsule on the Shoulder's x-axis (usually the Twist dial of an arm).

I have worked on this some and still cannot grasp why they are bending and twisting weird.
