In real life there are finishes (usually an epoxy) that looks like they are much deeper than that really are. Is there a way to do that in poser? I figure if it's possible  the bbglossy shader would be a good starting point but I don't know what to change to do that. Would I just increase the reflection value or the IOR or both? Or something else?

reflection depth?  where it looks like the reflection is fading out, the deeper one looks into the surface.

BB has managed to make coatings shaders that look like they have depth. I don't know if they are gonna be in the marketplace or are already.

schurby has some excellent shaders for different materials in his free stuff and at ontarget3d. I have used on cars only but I think they may work in other situations

They're ready but I have to do packaging and stuff.

On the left, BB Glossy 2. Middle is BB Candy Paint. Right is BB Crazy Paint.

Definatly like that candy shader. I went with the bbglossy  for the scene I'm working on currently, but I know I'll want these effects later too. Hopefully we won't have to wait as long for these as the metals shader. :m_wink:
