Hello all and hope your weekend was a good one
I was wondering a few things, but will try not to bog you down with to many questions at once.
1, DAZ put out a promotion copy of the new plug-in that allows Poser users to use the new Genesis figures as Im sure everyone already knows.
My question is; has anyone installed and used it yet; and if so were there any install problems that I should keep an eye out for? I have Poser 9 and am also about to install Poser 2012.
2, Befor I go on a very dumb question. Is V5 M5 the same as Genesis???
3, My other concern is clothing. If I do have the Genesis figure what about clothing. If Genesis figures were orig. designed for DAZ Studios..... How do I get the clothing for them into Poser, or do I first have to get and install DAZ Studios in order to use them?????
Thats it for now but expect many more questions :)
Thanks much Steel.

I have downloaded and installed the new plugin that allows Poser to use the (in)famous Genesis character, but it was a dreadful experience.
For starters, there is the very fact that you have to install a plugin in the first place. The only reason that this is so is because Daz wanted to make a play for the market by attempting to lock in their customers into their platform by using proprietary encrypted formats. This, in and of itself, gives you a bad taste before you even start using the damn thing.
Second of all, once I actually installed the plugin, it simply did not work. Instead, it showed a series of error messages saying that other programas were required for the plugin to work and it actually made Poser crash!
Finally, although it was relatively easy to uninstall, it still did leave a lot of crap behind that I had to remove manually. Maybe there is a very complicated way of configuring and setting up the plugin so that it will work, but who needs the hassle?
In a nutshell, I love the Daz characters and products in general, but I am staying away from that plugin altogether, and I recommend everyone else to do the same. I am also avoiding the Genesis line of characters, unless they make it 100% Poser compatible, such as it is the case of Victoria4.
I will post it on my last image at my gallery!

I had absolutely no problem installing and was able to bring up Genesis figure immediately.
I did notice that the SSS shader on V5 does not have separate scatter groups by default, giving a blue tinge around mouth, but is easy to assign a new scatter group number.
I did have problem at first with converting poses for SubDragon, but is separate issue and solved now.
All the Genesis clothing in .duf format converts and fits easily so far
EZskin2 can be configured to work for Genesis with small effort

I had no problem installing. It does works as stated above. Not everything for Genesis has been converted yet to work in the Poser interface. I'm told that with the latest version of Daz studio you can do this yourself.

It is best to follow the original thread posted by Toxic Wolf. There is far more information there and it would be redundant and confusing if multiple threads keep reiterating what is already common knowledge.

Genesis is the base figure that an be morphed into male, female, child or other shapes.
All other shapes including V5, M5, and S5 are nothing more than moprh sets.

My installation was a breeze and it worked perfectly. However, I DID read all of the instructions and the Daz thread before I installed. Most obviously, others did not do the same ;).

Forgot to mention that in addition to the SSS shaders all in the same group, there is a known issue with the library and the plugin (Pro users need to set the library to external in preferences to avoid this). For now, there is not a workaround for Poser 9 users but Daz has been made aware of the problem.
