Greetings!

I will be buying Vue 11 Esprit, but with a restricted budget will not be able to afford both the Ecosystem AND the Eco Painter module. I played around with both in the Vue 10 Infinite PLE, but there is no way to clearly separate each module's functionality. Therefore, I need some help deciding which will be more useful for me.

I used to work extensively in Bryce way back when and had started messing around with Vue 6 (with Ecosystem). Then life got in the way and I stopped completely. I will most likely be a more casual user now, although I do hope to be able to dive as much as possible into the vast abilities of Vue 11.

My main interest are landscapes as I am also a landscape photographer, but in the past I have done also indoor scenes or whatever came to my mind. I probably will do mostly stills.

It seems to me that the Painter module might be a bit more versatile as it allows  more precise control, although for larger areas it would require more manual work than the Ecosystem. And the new Painter features seem to make it an even more versatile tool. But is there anything you cannot do with Painter at all, where you need the Ecosystem? (I am aware of the new particle function in combination with the Ecosystem.)

What are the pros and cons of each module?

If you had to pick only one of these two modules, which would you pick? And why?

Thanks for your input!  :-)

Hello!

I use Vue Infinite and thus have access to all modules. But looking at my usage patterns and which modules they would involve, I would probably recommend to get The EcoPainter if you can get only one. That gives you great control and is also a lot easier use for a beginner. Ultimately you probably want both. The ecosystem functions are great for quickly populating large areas and for matching terrain features, but with a bit of patience a lot of this can be done by painting ecos.

Have fun!

Go for EcoSystem module, so you can use the new Particles system. The new EcoPainter is great, with brushes and effectors, but without the EcoSystem module, no particles.

Addition to what Bruno stated, you may want to read www.e-onsoftware.com/products /vue/vue_11_complete/.  This page gives you a list of all the modules, what they do and what they require from other modules....Jan

Thanks for your feedback!

I'll wait for the PLE and play a bit around with the new functions to find out what I would miss if I only get the Painter and if I can live without particles...  ;-)
