I've started fooling around again in the Material Room--want to experiment more with the textures and bumps and displacements, to create more individualistic-looking people (like the attached head shot, a nocturnal creature who lives in abandoned buildings). In that wild and crazy room, however, I notice there are two skins for the face, and that the 2_SkinHead often uses the torso map. Why is that? If I change it to the face texture, I see no change when I render. What does the 2_SkinHead attach to? The top of the head? And why should it use a torso map? It offends my (easily offended) sense of logic. Can someone clue me in?
