Meanwhile, a simple question. There are both displacement maps and bump maps to create texture effects, like the wrinkles. What are the strengths and weakness of the two? Can they be used together? Why one instead of the other?

ROFL. And my girls NEVER wear them!
All teasing aside, they look good.

Looking good...
Basicaly I belive, bump maps displace only in the direction of the camera where as displacement maps are independent on camera view so edges will show displacement....

Bump is the illusion of texture, so the effect doesn't show on the turning edges of the object, whereas displacement actually displaces the geometry at a micro poly level ...independent of the mesh resolution (displacement relys on the image maps resolution). it's possible to cast shadows with displacement.
Bump is really good for more fine detail effects like weaves, pores, grain... use displacement if you want more dramatic textural, second skin type effects.

Displacement also casts shadows, bump does not.

Looks really good. Vicky could always use more stockings because she tends to get a lot of runs and snags while slaying dragons in a temple with her sword....
What one of the stockings creators needs to add and you could be the first is a texture set if they are second skins that has runs realistic looking runs or ladders.

Thanks, everyone, for the info and your comments. And I do intend to add various second skins, some with different heel and welt treatments, and others with runs and ladders and various wrinkles. Those aspects are all part of the appeal of real stockings...I'll just keep on experimenting......
