I wish you had some stuff in your gallery or had more post than just this youtube link.

Pretty damn good I agree...do you have other work or has this, as it seems, taken the better part of a few years to render?

The best Bryce video I've ever seen. But how did you manage to render so many polygons inside Bryce which only has 32 bit memory capacity?

@ max...that was my original thought and why I posted what I did, implying that in Bryce it would take that long to just render.....

Actually one of my techniques is to use alot of 2d elements when neccessary. Its keeps the polygon count low. It didn't take that long to render as i own a Lenovo E31 Workstation. Its a pretty decent machine especially when handling grahpical intensive applications that would be stressful on my CPU & GPU respectively.skiwillgee posted Thu, 14 February 2013 at 11:14 AM
Now I am impressed!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record.. This is awesome. It really makes me wonder why DAZ doesn't take more interest in marketing Bryce.

It's often more the limitations of peoples imaginations that stops us(me) from pulling this off I think. Having the vision to make it possible.
softcel posted Fri, 15 February 2013 at 12:01 PM
I agree. Besides you HAVE to be imaginative to get past bryces limitations. Trust me...trail & error were a big aprt of acomplishing this. But you havent seen anything yet :)

Congratulations on a superb animation! So many people ignore the animation capabilities of Bryce. Render small scenes folks, and combine them later. You do not have to render it all at once.

Thats pretty awesome! Definitely one of the best bryce animations I've seen!
If I might add a couple slight nitpicks:
I'd add a bit of camera shake to some shots with explosions near the camera, for even more dramatic effect.
There's also some shots where the dirt on the camera lens (from the video copilot lens-flares plugin) is probably more dominant then necessary, particularly one shot near the end where the dirt lights up so much that it blinds most of the view.
There's one lens-flare that says exactly the same between 2 different camera shots somewhere around 2 3rds of the animation.
Maybe a couple strategically placed out-of-focus twitches might add just that slight bit of extra atmosphere to the whole thing.

It's my experience that bryce can handle hundreds of millions of polygons as far back as the bryce 5 days, and at least millions of polygons since the bryce 3d days.
In fact, I never ran into a polygon limit. I just never needed more then 20-25million or so untill a couple years into the bryce 5 era, and even then I never tried to push beyond more then 650 million-ish polygons.

Thanks for the feedback. The lense flares & dirt effects are not made with any video editing plug-in. They are actually transparent PNG Files importing into Bryce & parented to the camera. I'll take your advice into consideration for my next animation. :)
Rayraz posted Tue, 12 March 2013 at 12:41 PM
hmm.. interesting choice.. that does remove the need to do camera-tracking in AE. On the other hand it makes it harder to tweak the end-result..

Attached Link: Camera tutorial
This link is to a short tutorial on how i got my camera to move the way it does in bryce. I encourage you to experiment with different paths for different results. As long as the principle of the technique remains, any path can be used to achieve the desired shot.I didn't use any other programs for post effects. Everything that people think are tricks done in after effects are actually PNG files, even some of the atmosphere effects are just 2D fog layers placed cleverly in front of the camera.

Great work. Your animations are an inspiration.
I really like Bryce and have animated in Bryce back in the B4 days.
One thing that DAZ needs to do is open up the ability to see more cpu cores. When they do that, Bryce will shine as it is.

Wow, superb animation! I love the camera angles. I'm a Battlestar Galactica fan and this is fantastic. It's a great advertisement for Bryce too.
