David-3 Weightmapped.

THIS IS A POSER 9/PP-2012 ONLY FIGURE ! It will not work in older versions of Poser or any version of Studio.

The new cr2 is RTE encoded so you have to own David 3 to use it.

Instructions where to download RTE-Decoder and how to decode the file are included.

THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS FIGURE.

He can pose, morph, and wear clothes just like standard David, but there will be pokethrough in more extreme poses.

The best solution would be to transfer his weightmaps over to the clothing but the clothing most likely will need further refinemant with the joint editor.

If you don't know how/don't want to bother with fixing clothing, I suggest to use the legacy David-3 shape for GENESIS instead.

I weightmapped David as good as I could so I'm not looking for critical feedback. I rather encourage you to fix what you think needs fixing and re-share the results again so he can improve over time.

As long as you keep the ReadMe attached and re-encode the results to protect DAZ' intellectual property, you are welcome to re-share David-WM.

I made him for myself because I wasn't happy how Genesis currently works in Poser and the SM-offerings were not really an alternative.

I'm only one person and my energy and time are limited, so all I can give is a starting point.

Wether it will become more is now up to you.

As I said, feel free to improve him and re-share the results.

The download includes a new cr2 file with improved joints, instructions to decode the RTE file and the poses I created for the demo render above.

Enjoy !

Cool! I grabbed David. I hope this is just the beginning. I've seen examples of your work with some of the other Gen3 figures. Much better than I've been able to achieve so far. Your eye is better than mine. :)

YAY!!!  :thumbupboth:

Thanx, JP! :woot:

I would expect Outfitter to work; there are no extra bones, right? Likely shoes will need to be converted with the toes excluded, just like V4-WM...

Standard David clothing will work fine on David WM, including shoes.

The problems start when you go beyond everyday poses. Then the improved rigging of DavidWM will cause pokethrough.

It's easy to transfer the weightmaps to the clothes by:

Select your cloth --> click Figure-->"Copy Joint zones From..."-->Select DavidWM

But weightmaps are a lot more picky than spherical falloff zones so you will have to smooth the transferred rigging a bit inside the joint editor. (PP-2012 only !) Some clothes also have extra bodyparts.

In any case, if Outfitter can help transferring David-WM's weightmaps over to his clothing, feel free to set it up to work with David.

JoePublic posted Wed, 27 February 2013 at 1:50 PM

In the back the original rigging.

In the front weightmaps that were transferred over from David-WM and then smoothed out a bit.

Janl posted Wed, 27 February 2013 at 2:58 PM

Just a quick test.

The weight maps transfer very well with just a little adjustment at the top of the thighs.

Here he is on the right wearing the Ultra Bodysuit with copy joint zones.  I had to use the loosen control in the Suit to get rid of poke-through around the hip/thigh area

I have found that, for the most part, David can wear M3 textures. Do you have one for M3? Give it a try if you do.

This one is for David.

MistyLaraCarrara posted Fri, 15 March 2013 at 12:31 PM

thanks.

I don't have anything for M3, either.

David BB looks interesting, but a lil extreme.

was hoping to find a veins bump or displacement map.

something like this: http://www.daz3d.com/m4-displacement-maps

or the Zevo one for M4 in a merchant resource.

it seems like a small thing, but a few veins adds sooo much to a male character.

Attached Link: http://trekkiegrrrl.dk/tex3.htm

And that's why I stick with higher res meshes like D3 instead of using M4 or M5 Genesis.

People always say we don't need all those polygons because displacement maps could easily replace them.

Yet there are almost zero high quality displacement maps around.

If you just want some veins, TrekkieGrrl has a free one. (See Link)

BTW, if you have Texture Converter 2 you could convert the M4 vein maps to David or M3.

randym77 posted Fri, 15 March 2013 at 12:46 PM

There are some textures for the Gen 3 figures that have veins.

Like here.  Textures made for M3 will work for David.

One problem is that Gen 3 products are often no longer for sale.  If they don't sell a certain amount, they get taken down.

On the bright side, if they are still for sale, they are often discounted.  Some have even become freebies.

It's freely distributable, provided the cr2 is distributed encoded against D3, so if JP doesn't reupload it, I'll upload it somewhere...

I was looking for TY2weight maps and stumbled on these. Now all the links are dead.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

The weightmapped V3 and D3 are freely distributable,(so long as the cr2 is RTEncoded)  so someone will be willing to share them (perhaps even me!) ;)

Billy-t has a weightmapped TY2 here in the MP and at CP.  It's on sale right now here...
