I have been out to sea for the last week, so with no internet access to distract me, I began with messing with Miki's morphs, then hit on the idea to pose her in her bathroom.
The mirror that came with this bath set (the walls are not from the set either) wasn't up to par with what I wanted to do, so I started from scratch.
The first things I figured out is that a high poly count doesn't necessarily give you a decent reflection. This mirror is two primitive props: the primitive frame and the one sided square. Both were scaled to size, then I exported the frame to tweak it a bit in Wings.
Next came the mirror surface: I first made the Diffuse and Specular all black. Then I made the Highlights 0.0000000. I added the reflect node and plugged it into the reflection tab on the root node. I changed the reflection value to 1.0, then I tweaked the settings inside the node itself. Background color was left at solid black, the quality was ramped up to 20, softness was left at 0.0 (if you change this, it makes the reflection blurry), and I left the RayBias at default.
The results are above. It took about 4 hours to render this picture with IDL and SSS turned on.
If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.
