Subject: Should 'zoom' be the new default?

I would rather photos be displayed at full zoom as the default, and if you wanted it smaller you could then go ahead and click the image to reduce it's size. My reasons are:

Personally, I view every photo I am interested in at full zoom, as it's the only way to truly see it. The smaller view is like looking at photos on a smartphone - and we already have Mark Zukerberg's site for that!

I would like to hear the views of other members on this topic.

Thanks for you time.

Andrew

That's an interesting idea though it might be hard to implement since it has to appear on the page with other data and comments. Since you could post something up to 4,000 by 4000 pixels, it might become the factor controlling the size of the page, and if it resulted in the rest of the page being reduced accordingly, the comment might become difficult to read so that could be unpleasant, whereas the present does allow you to view the full-size but it does open in a different window. For me, I' rathe see some servers added to

See, this is what happens all the time on my iPad, I make an error, go back and try to correct it and it locks up!!!!!!

Locked up again! To complete, I'd rather see some servers added so the site operated faster. I spend so much time waiting that it cuts my commenting about in half of what it could be.

Thank you Andrew for this threat.

Isnt it just a matter of a command called "Maximize" in the html, where the zoom picture shall be?  In there is written full size. Yes, and the picture is in full size, but in a little box. We need a box that fits atleast to our screen, wether it is wide or not.  If it was commanded to be Maximized, I assume it would be mazimized in any screen, wide or not? Not that I know MUCH about html, but.....

Or am I totally out of sence here?

I could not agree more! If I were editing my photos to be seen in the smaller size I would use a little more sharpness and contrast, but since they look so much better in "zoom" I adjust them for that format. I allways view other images in zoom to experience the full impact of the photo, which is almost allways lost in the small format.

Perhaps under the full size image, where it says "zoom out", we could add "and view comments"?

No reason why you couldn't allow both options. You could do that by adding a zoom link to each thumbnail. It could either go below the thumbnail, be superimposed in a corner of the thumbnail, or you could make the title of the image a clickable link. Have it continue to behave as it does if you just click the thumbnail or go directly to a full size view via the other link. Should be very easy to code that.

CHEERRRR !!!!!!

Now it works just like it should. When you click for big image, it opens the whole way out to the edges of our monitor.  THANK YOU FOR THIS, to whom it might be, that is programming.

:-)))))))))))))))))

helanker posted Wed, 13 March 2013 at 1:36 PM

Oh, but what i see now, when I click an image for full size,  is this:

helanker posted Wed, 13 March 2013 at 1:39 PM

This is what I saw before... and had to click more to get it full screen size. A full sized image in a little screen.

Still works the same here Helle.

After clicking on the zoom you have to click on the sqaure on the top right hand side to see the full zoom in full screen.

God Bless.

Yes I know Christo.. and that is what I wish I didnt need to do every time I have to see a post properly. Who needs such a tiny box for a MUCH larger image? Then we must move the slicer too. Too much mouse work. Should I go back to my old monitor. ,,,
