Hi all,

Hoping you can help me out here.

Not sure what this is all about, but I get this as an error message when I load the figure.  I checked the following folders:

Libraries/Character/ (My File) Shirt is in there

Runtime/Geometries (My File)  Shirt is in there.

I get this message when I load the CR2 in Poser for M4 since that's who I created it for, and don't know why it's giving me this:

SystemError: NULL result without error in PyObject_Call

Open the CR2 in a text editor and do a search for "python". Tell us what you get.

Ragtopjohnny posted Mon, 11 March 2013 at 9:42 AM

Says "Can Not Find Python".

You are getting the error when you load the shirt or M4?

Yeah, exactly right WandW.  When I load it for M4, which is who I created it for.

I have to sign off a while, but I'll be back on later on if anyone else replies.

Thanks. 😄

As usual : Show a screengrab of the mesh.

Is it uvmapped?
Grouped?
Open?
Closed?
Quads?
Tris?
Neons?
Intersections?

  1. The shirt was created in what application?
  2. With what application did you make the cr2.
  3. Are there loose ungouped polygons perhaps? Or double grouped?
  4. Did you weld after the grouping?
  5. Why did you make a cr2 outside Poser, when Poser can make one automatically for you?
  6. How did you load it?

You know we all want to help, but we need facts and figures to do so.

I usually just delete preferences everytime I see an error like this and it fixes itself.

Ever stop to think, and forget to start again?

Hey Misty, it's just for Poser, a shirt I created, no Dson thing.

Vilters, created in 3DS Max.  Ungrouped.  Never thought of making it inside Poser, but it needs to be conformed to M4. Imported it from .obj format.

Now, Propschick, what do yo mean by delete preferneces?

Thanks ---

I'm currently on my laptop where Poser 7 is installed....for Poser 7 , I go to:

C:UsersPropsChickAppDataRoamingPoser 7      (this is a hidden folder)

I look for Poser.ini and Preferredstate.pz3 files

Then I copy to another spot so that I have a backup copy , delete them, and restart Poser. It'll create new ones.....I do this with photoshop when I run into issues sometimes too.

You always want that backup copy tho, just in case!

It's my oddball fix I learned from a friend some years ago and seems to fix everything for me, lol

Only downside is, when Poser opens again, it's appearance will be that of how it looked freshly installed.

Who knows, this may or may not work, but always works for me on stuff like this !

If this DOES work for you, once you have everything working again, save the files in that folder to a different one, when you run into this issue again, you can just copy and paste them over and done!

Ever stop to think, and forget to start again?

I'll give it a whirl Propchick, thanks! 😄  I'll keep you posted. Going to try it right now.

it needs to be grouped and rigged if you want a conformer.

i  suggest that you leave max and everything else alone for now, and read Posers manual, watch the poser vids at CP/SM.

you will NEVER learn how to model and create clothing UNLESS you actually study the information that is freely available in many places.

leaping ahead without learning the basics will continue to frustrate and irritate you.

Johnny.
In your first post you state that the cr2 gives an error message.

Down here you say you imported the obj file in Poser, build in Max and ungrouped,  .
Where does the cr2 come from?

Poser has a setup room to build conforming clothing.
The setup room can rig, and autogroup an imported ungrouped obj file.
And the output is a fresh grouped obj fle and a cr2. => the conformling clothing.

It is in short and in large in the manual, and at least a dozen times on youtube.
There are also video tutorials by CP/SM  on their own tutorials pages.

From what you write here?
Building an ungrouped object, importing that object in Poser and getting a cr2 error makes no sense at all.

I fear you are mixing things up.

I fear you have been trying to follow something written before Poser setup room had a working autogroup function.
But now I am guessing completely in the blind as the information you give is confusing.

Thanks Vilters.

The CR2 is created INSIDE of Poser.  I'm creating it using the Add Figure function at the library list.

I'll look up the tutorials tomorrow, but I'm wiped out now.  Been a long day and just fooling around with Poser for some art sense.

Glad to know though that I can Righ and Autogroup a figure in the set up room.  Thanks for that information.

The main reason I ask online, is because alot of times, I can barely read because of what happened with my headaches and my right eye over the past several years, it's my dominant eye and I can read better on the computer screen and sometimes that's even affected, so I ask more in the forums about what I need to know.

Youtube is no problem at all, I can at least listen to it and watch it too.  It's kind of a pain to be with that that way in my situation.  Thank goodness there's a ZOOM function on the modeling programs, which is what I usually wind up using.

Thanks man.  I will definitely do that.  I don't mind laying low a few days to learn new things. 😄

Yeah, don't do the add figure thing...cut it up, import as a prop and take it into the setup room and either rig it or don't cut it up and use the Mike 4 blank donor file. Even then it will still need adjusting. You may not have enough resolution in certain places and the mesh will break. It's tedious, no matter what method you use.

I find Auto Group Editor makes grouping easier. You can take in a character such as Miki and transfer her groups with it. You can also then edit those groups. I've also used it to group models from scratch.
