After working in the hair room for several hours and many saves and renders, I find a trail of detached hairs floating off into nowhere. These migrators don't show up in the preview, and only show in the renders if the camera is positioned right.

I've posted this problem before, but was wondering if there was any new advice. Is there a way to keep this from happening? It is said to have been a problem in Poser all along - does it ever get fixed? I'm using Poser8 now. Did they ever fix it? Is there a better way createlong hair and hair styles (aside from painting them on)?

It still happens in pp2012. I was told by SM that they think it is caused by having too high of hair density. They didn't have a fix. The only thing I have found to do is delete the group with the problem and try again.

Great. I have a dark figure with white hair. Kinda need the density. Thank you for that info, though.

Still, there are some really nice styles being created that do not appear to be painted on. What kind of software has the capability of doing that sort of thing?

They told me for density, increase the width of the strands and use a skull cap color that matches. I've tried to keep mine at or below 500 and it seems to work.

As far as making hair, to my knowledge there are only 3 ways to do it. 1. paint it on in postwork. 2. model it in pretty much any modeling software. (I know shade has a hair making tool that seems decent) 3. Use the hair room to make stranded. You can't really make stranded hair in another program to bring into Poser. You'd have to convert it somehow to actual geometry first. There are some scripts that might help you out if you want to make stranded hair.

Back deformations (like a draping simulation)

Saving hair settings to use for other groups

And a script to make strands follow a path you create

www.the.cage.page.phantom3d.net/looper/loopy.html look for the hair to path script

And instructions for using that script can be found here

(please note the disclaimer in that thread 😄 )

p.s. There may also be a 4th way to make hair coming. Look At My Hair has been talking about making a poser version. I don't know much about that program though.

Thank you. I will look into these options.
