I have canceled my 4shared file hosting account, and need a place to upload models, material files, etc. for folks to download. I see this File Locker option in the marketplace. Is that what this service is for? Could I post direct download links in the forum without folks having to pick their way through a minefield of malware ads?
Could I use it to post brief ShockWaveFlash (.swf) animations in the forum? (Photobucket no longer carries them.)
Can I pay a year at a time? I really dislike the idea of automatic repeated charges to a credit card. (I do understand the useful of that method to others, but I don't want it for myself).

never heard of file locker, but I had probs with 4shared and was recomended to try skydrive. NOt used it much (dont expect to lol) but is easy to use and probably does a lot more then I have looked at yet.
one odd thing is I had pics in my skydrive from the old MSN groups days, thats a WTF moment ;-)

Bagginsbill hosts his stuff on Google Sites. I don't know if he uses the free or the paid version...

That is, indeed, what File Locker is for.
No, there is no yearly billing option.
Would you need more storage/bandwidth than comes with the free account?

Google Drive is also probably a viable option for what you need?

i use free hosting option of google sites.
You can also get two gigs free on dropbox, put files in your public folder, and share direct links to those.
I suspect google drive and skydrive are also options.
There are no ads involved in the dropbox or drive systems because there is no web page.
My google site has web pages too but still no ads. All free.
Some people have argued that my site is not free because of making people see ads. These individuals have some sort of mental disorder. There are no ads on google sites except what you decide to put there. I do not put any ads in mine.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I didn't know that there was a free account. If I click on members/my file locker, it says 0 MB storage, 0 GB bandwidth available. Activation required, maybe?
Oh, I should clarify that I don't take issue with ads per se, but only with pages loaded with multiple buttons which are intentionally deceptive, hiding the legitimate freebie d/l button amongst a myriad of larger, more prominent buttons marked "DOWNLOAD" which install crap toolbars and/or malware. That is what 4shared has become, even when I had paid for premium direct-download link service.
Also, I don't mind paying, if the service offers direct download links (no impostor buttons which install malware) and reasonably fast d/l times. I do mind the vendor making automatic charges to my credit card. I would rather pay in advance for a year's service. Of course, free is great. I can follow the link to BB's freestuff to look into Google site.
