My GF got me Atals as a gift due to a slight resemblance and I had no issues using it in Poser 8. Got Poser pro 2012 for X-mas and started transfering all my 8 runtime to 2012.

Loaded Atlas and did a render it he looks like he recently had a face lift. He still renders fine in 8 but 2012...well, he is no slowly making his way to the unused files.

All renders I've done to compare are identical and the results are the same between the two.

including samples

Is there something I'm missing here or is there an issue between to 2 version of poser in how they handle maps?

Again...all setting are identical between both versions and Im puzzled.

Yes the render engine/Lights/texture/node reltationships have changed and a default render from each version will differ

among other changes the texture filtering has changed

So is that TTFN or TANSTAAFL?

Gamma correction in render settings.

Also you would need to change the gamma to all transmaps, bumps and displacement maps to a setting of 1.
