Subject: V4 still can't sit down?

So I've bought every "joint fixes" pack I can get my hands on... and it seems a simple 90 degree sitting pose still causes that ridiculous extremely deep crease in the joint between V4's thigh and her hip.

Anyone know of an actual fix for this somewhere?   The hip to thigh area is the most unrealistic joint on her body, and I know we all struggle with it, but I'd love to find something that actually works for at least a 90 degree angle and sitting pose.

Thanks for any tips!

You could cover it up with clothes.

Darkworld posted Thu, 25 April 2013 at 8:30 AM

For animation these kinds of angles are poke-through bait.  also i'm using a lot of second skins ;)

Darkworld posted Thu, 25 April 2013 at 8:42 AM

Actually now that i look at it closely some of the joint fix packs i have from rosity aren't actually changing the mesh at all.  i'm using base 4.2 with latest SR for Pro 2012, not sure why their fixes aren't sticking.

BTW, how does the weight-mapped version of V4 compare with the non-weightmapped version for sitting?

dlfurman posted Thu, 25 April 2013 at 8:50 AM

Not so bad with the weight mapped V4 with the Perfect Fixes.

Looking at the wireframe of V4 with the legs in the sitting position, that just could be the mesh and the way it was modeled.

It is, absolutely.  But the fixes from Xameva and i13 for some reason aren't loading, or having any effect on her.  I know this isn't intended and I'm sure i'll figure it out, but seems like suddenly i can load a blank v4.2 and can't get any joint fixes (other than the shoulder fix from i13) to load.

That crease is a doozy.  Normally i just avoid this type of bend but that's not an option at the moment.

Aha.  the plot thickens... looks like all the fixes are working for me as long as they are above the waist.

?!

Darkworld posted Thu, 25 April 2013 at 9:27 AM

Cold reboot and i think it may be working now... INJ All still doesn't work but my thigh fixes are working individually, and that's all i need.

I hear ya. I am glad that when I got into this hobby, there was a slew of free apps and models out there. My wife won't let me spend money on this hobby beyond Poser, so I decided to learn to model. There are too many real world things we have to spend it on. A private education for 2 kids is a real wallet strangler...

Now I have everything I need to keep me busy for quite some time. And I don't have to break my promise to the wife.

Are you following the instructions completely? Have you created a Perfect morphs CR2 V4? Are the fix morphs showing up when injected?

Because the fixes are working as intended for me.

Perfect Fixes works for me. But, if you're still having problems, you can create a custom morph to fix it, then make that morph dependent on the x rotation of the thigh. That's easier to do in PP2012 because you don't need an editor to do it. I don't know about any other versions other than 6&7, in which you had to use something like CR2 editor to make custom morphs automagically into dependencies.

Weight Mapping is also an option. I haven't moved totally to WMV4, but have messed around with it a bit. It can be very nice, especially when combined with the ease of use of the standard joint Sphere and new "Capsule" deformation zones. Gonna have to play with that a bit to be able to comment on any of it intelligently, though... And doubtful, even then. ;)

*Note - On "Perfect Fixes" and custom figures - Be prepared for some heavy tweaking for best results. But, its certainly better than just leaving the standard V4 joint deformers and dependent morphs with a radical custom-morph character.
