To avoid any confusion, let me clarify **this is NOT *my* work.  Richard Marklew modeled this item**.

Richard Marklew, who use to have a web site titled Blender Who, is currently sharing high and low resolution .OBJ format models of the Cyberman helmets as they appeared in the Doctor Who serial "EarthShock".  Funny enough, BBC America is running that story this evening.

I don't know for how long the links will be active, so grab them while you can.

The low resolution model can be found here...

Low res 1.6MB

...and the higher polygon model is available here...

High res 4.0MB

The smaple render I've posted is the high polygon model.  (Trust me, if your system can handle it, opt for the high polygon model for any "beauty shots".

Be sure to thank Richard Marklew who has a blog site here...

The Celestial Toyroom

Sincerely,

Bill

Wow!

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Here's what I "slapped together" using Anthony Appleyard's spacesuited figure as a base, a thoroughly "mutilated" chest armor piece from Zikeo's "Cyber-Dude" as the shoulder unit, gauntlets from a forgotten contributor at Animotions, and various rounded cubes and pleated tubes I had on hand for the various "greeblies".

Consider it more "in the spirit" than an exact recreation of any one specific John Nathan Turner era design.

Sincerely,

Bill

That looks fan-tastic :)

Many thanks for the links to the helmet too!

I think we should thank Aldemps as well.  He found Marklew's links within a thread at Gallifrey Base.  He then told the readers of the ongoing Doctor Who thread within the DAZ forums.  I thought I'd relay the information here.

At Gallifrey Base, I posted a "thank you" and asked Marklew if he had the chest unit as well.  He responded, "Not made one yet."  I won't push the issue for fear of being rude, but I'm taking the "yet" in his statement as a sign he may eventually make one.

Sincerely,

Bill

Yes thanks to Aldemps, for originating the heads up...

...a big thanks to Mr Marklew! The cyber helmet model is splendid.

Once again, three cheers for Richard Marklew!!!

To go with his EarthShock Cyberman helmet, the “Celestial Toymaker” has released the distinctive yoke styled “chest unit”.

Here’s the Gallifrey Base thread showcasing the model…

(You need to be a member to view it)

...and here’s the link to the page where the .OBJ format mesh is stored…

Keep in mind Richard modeled every detail, right down to the individual “nubs” that make up the various “gratings” on the prop, so the polygon count is over 150 KB, roughly two DAZ figures.  Of course, that means you can zoom in very close without any loss of detail.

I’m including a simple render to demonstrate how it looks with the high res helmet when “parented” to a Poser rigged figure, in this case, Anthony Appleyard’s free spacesuit figure.

Sincerely,

Bill
