Subject: Content for Rex & Roxie

So, I've been looking through some of the markets and haven't found much content for Rex & Roxie.

It seems a couple freebies have been done, but is anyone else creating anything for them? 

I figure maybe a thread here (as has been done with other lesser figures), would help for anyone wanting to find content for them - either free or for sale, and for those thinkin about creating anything for them can look here to see if it's already been done. 

Maybe also for those requesting something be made.

Too few people do stuff for the native Poser figures. And then nobody uses them. And nobody makes stuff for never-used figures. - circle complete.

Also I think that at least some regards the Fitting Room as The Solution. So far I've used it twive with ... passable results... but not more than that.

So I'd like more clothes for Rex, too. General clothing. Everyday wear. And perhaps a nice suit.

But I must admit I mostly use Simon when it comes to the Native Figures. He just looks better than rex.

I generally support all the Poser figures over at CP. I just haven't done anything for Roxie yet.  I have some questions regarding her mesh. Once that gets resolved, I'll be creating a character for her.

Thanks, TrekkieGirl!  I prefer to work with Miki 4 and now, Roxie.

Frankly, there's nothing left to do for V4 that hasn't been done to death anyway.

Roxie with some of the voluputous morphs dialed in.

I have a jumpsuit in the freebies.

     Currently working on TinkerBell gear (dress, panty, slippers, wings, and a pixie dust aura).

     I also have in mind a ceilidh dancer outfit (dress & shoes).

Are there supposed to be any updates to the base meshes? 

The eye lash issue is a bit of a setback, but more importantly I've been discovering issues with Rex's mesh, particularly in the legs, that make it difficult to create morphs. 

The geometry itself isn't symmetrical, and can't be made symmetrical due to the way it's laid out. So it takes extra work and some creative planning to make it work the way it needs to. 

It could be fixed and would not alter the UVs in any way that would screw with any textures, but it's not something I've ever run into with any other native figures. 

Anyway, I'm workin on an FBM for Rex, and plan to do one for Roxie as well. Getting these issues corrected would make things a lot easier.

If they'd fix the mesh, all my FBMs were lost for the new geometrie. Never understand that eyelash problem. I just can't see it . Eyelashes are o.k. to me the way they are. Making them part of the body would make my FBMs unusable.

Yes, I detest the existing Roxie lashes. I'm a woman. Even with mascara I've never had lashes that looked as strange as those and I've never seen lashes like that on any human - in print or in real life. They look like toon lashes. I've been wrestling with how to get around those things. That's my set-back on releasing characters.

However, I agree with Timberwolf that It would indeed be a shame to break people's FBMs.

AmbientShade, you should report the mesh issues in Mantis. That way it'll be on the docket for Rex 2/Roxie 2 (probably next verson of Poser, I'd guess).

:-) Yeah, from the time we're little girls we're inundated with images of what every square inch of our bodies are "supposed" to look like. Those lashes just aren't doing it.

The eyelash fix may come sooner. Probably a transmap option like Miki 4. Thanks for all for your support. Poserworld has a jump suit with boots, and a skirt/legging/blouse outfit for Roxie. They take requests for free from members.

Strike that part. My mistake. It turned out I'd screwed up the geometry myself, somehow, while trying to make the base figure symmetrical. lol. It happens. 

So far the mesh is built symmetrical far as I can tell. 

 

My issue with the lashes is just with them being a separate figure, not their structure since that can be worked with. 

It's also not a make-or-break issue (at least it shouldn't be for most people). A problem with the base figure's geometry would be.

Yeah, probably WOULD make freebies for Rex and Roxie, but I haven't upgraded to PP2014 yet, and it may be a while. On the other hand though, I'm trying to go full bore on supporting the other Poser figures. P7 Kate seems to have caught on for the moment.

Kate2 would be great. She's been largely ignored. Would be nice to have a weightmapped version of her. There are no weightmapped kids for Poser (unless you count Genesis Kid; does that really count?)

     TinkerBell gear for Roxie:  currently awaiting arrival of silk fabric samples (Kelly green and golden yellow) which I'll scan and then use Genetica to make several asymmetrical seamless tiles.  Dress and slippers are green, panty will be yellow.

Ok so I'll throw in a WIP too.

A dress shirt and some slacks for Rex that I'm working on. It will probably have undies and shoes too. And maybe a jacket...?

Actually it's clothing for the FBM I'm workin on but it will fit Rex as well, obviously.

Good point - 3Dream makes awesome hair and includes a prop version with each hair package. You can easily load the prop version and get it to fix Roxy just by using scaling & translating.

And...if we're lucky, he'll see this and create hair fits for Roxy (free download here and ShareCG) for his various hair models like he did for Alyson. (hint, hint) :)

I have also Poses for her, which i create for my projects with her. I will overwork them and put together.

Would somebody be willing to create a pair of socks for Roxie? I've tried using the Fitting room to convert socks for previous female characters, but they all end up looking more like shoes or boots. A generic t-shirt would be great too.

Roxie is an awesome character. It's a shame she shipped with so little clothing support.

Can the socks be lowered to mid-shin for a more athletic look? I know I can use a transparency map to make them appear shorter, but I was curious if they were customizable.

'Fraid not. Thehy weren't really made to be athletic socks. They're more dress socks. I do have some ankle socks coming out that goes with a tennis outfit that I'm working on. Think that might help?

What I'd like to see for Roxie is some decent morphs. I don't discount the ones she comes with but basically there's only three. Muscular, Voluptuous and Pregnant. Well, okay, Slim too I guess. But whatever happened to Heavy and Pear shaped?

I should point out that the shoes are included with Roxie's clothing that comes with Poser 10. They are not part of Roxie's Tennis outfit. You can find them in the Props library.

     For those interested in such, I'm making a Galadriel-style dress for Roxie;  it will be dynamic because of the flowing sleeves and long skirt section.  Also, now that I've gotten the Eldar house packed and posted, I'll get back to Roxie's pixie dress.

     Has anyone done a gentle elven/pixie ear morph (LotR-esque or TinkerBell style, not like Yoda's) for Rex and Roxie?

     Render test of Roxie's pixie dress...

     The kit will come with dress, panty, slippers, and wings.

 

     The face & ears morph are Reena for Roxie, by LadyRaine.  I didn't use the body morph, so that you could see the dress on Roxie "out of the box", but you can use body morphs by applying them several frames into the sim animation.  That is, at frame 1, the body shape would be stock Roxie, but at frame 30 it could be Reena;  the cloth will snugly follow the change in shape.

This is with LadyRaine's *Reena* body shape (it's larger-busted) applied in frame 08;  running a dynamic cloth simulation automatically re-fits the dress to Reena (or whatever morph you want).

I included both a conforming dress AND a dynamic dress. I like the convenience of conforming clothes, particularly if, like me, you do seqential art , like web comics.

     That's a good idea, since it covers the newbie who can do little more than click and load as well as the old hands.  It wouldn't be feasible for this dress because it fits so snugly.  Conforming just can't do that.  I would need to loosen the fit considerably to make a mesh suitable for conforming.

The eyelash issue is also putting me off Roxie.

There is a nice texture for her at Poser World - called Roisin.

You can grow eyelashes in the hair room if you have the skill and patience to do it. Looks a lot better than the conforming lashes. I really don't like those.
