Subject: Texture Paint Issue in 2.67b

Hi, All~

Working on a tutorial at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVWNmeIoY74 put out by VlenderCookie on building a brick wall. In the tutorial, we build a bump map for the wall using texture paint mode and a cloud texture setting. I have had no problems with this and worked on it last night for a bit. I saved the blend file and when I opened it this morning, the texture I had painterd on the wall was missing. I thought I might have not saved correctly so I repainted the bump map. I thern again saved the blend file. When I opened the file this evening, I once again found that the texture paint I had spent so much time on was once again missing. I am not having any difficulties with the tutorial, but surely don't understand why the texture painting isn't savng out with the rest of the file. Anyone here have this happen to them, oir have an idea of what I may be doing wrong? Is there a preference or path I must specify in User Preferences? Really has me stum;ed! Any suggestions most appreciated...

TIA

C~

You must save the bump map image file separately, it is not stored as part of the blend file.

To do this, either switch to the Image Editor window or split your window to open the Image Editor in a second panel.  Now go to the menu bar for the Image/UV Editor and under Image selecte Save Image As (F3) and save your work.  Make sure you also point your bump texture for the model at that map under the Texture controls > Image.   You must save both the bumps / textures and the blend file before closing blender or you will lose some of your work.

That's a great tutorial btw and once you get used to it you can do some really nice bump and texture maps.  Baking from a high poly model to a low poly model is really useful if making props for game development, and I also find it useful for making background scenery props for Poser.
