While I actually have enough other projects to finish, I often do things in Poser just for the heck of it. :-)
And even though the DSON importer more or less works on my machine, I can't get used to "imported" figures.
So here's what I did:
Load Vicky 4 and ZERO her.
Load Genesis 2 Female.
Dial her V4 body to "1" and carefully repose her hands, fingers, legs and feet so that they EXACTLY match Vicky 4.
Export Genesis 2 as an object file.
Load her into a modeller and weld and regroup her chest and abdomen so that the groups match Vicky 4.
Load her back into Poser and add the Vicky 4 rigging to her.
Do some minor falloff zone editing.
Result:
A 100% Poser compatible Vicky 6 that can wear V4 clothing without any conversion.
So far I transferred only a few expression morphs. I have to see if there is an easy way to get all the erc expression morphs into the borrowed cr2 as well as the V4 bodymorphs.
Maybe I try the weightmapped V4 rig or do some weightmapping myself to get better bending.
Maybe do a more realistic bodymorph while I'm at it. The Genesis 1/2 scaling is completely broken in Poser, but V4's scaling now works very nicely, so changing her proportions is absolutely no problem any more.
Also have a V4toSP3 figure, so maybe I regroup her again to match SP3 and add her to my weightmapped 3rd Gen family.
In any case, when I want to play with Vicky 6, I don't need that stupid DSON importer anymore.

Guaranteed DSON free ! :-)

This idea would be the only reason I would be interested in such a figure. I have been wondering why someone hasn't done this before. Or why DAZ hasn't made an old rigged version for older versions of DS or Poser. Even though I have V4WM, I don't use her. Too much of a hassle to convert clothing to use on her when plain V4 still works just fine.

Yeah, I don't understand it either.
They had M2-P4, Stephanie-P4 and V2-P4 that were compatible with Dork and Posette.
Both as low and high res versions.
They had M3 to M2 and V3 to V2 (Could even use V2 textures), Aiko to SP3 and Hiro to David.
Luke and Laura to PreTeeners and Matt and Maddie to Preschoolers.
But then V4toV3 was the last fully functional legacy figure.
No M4 to M3 or M4 to David. No Kids4 to Matt and Maddie.
Genesis has legacy shapes, but they need DSON and aren't Poser 6 to 8 compatible.
Guess the marketing guys told them it isn't worth the effort.

Joe,
What is the advantage of using this figure as opposed to just V4?

I think the question is better rephrased:
What part of this figure is still in any way V6?
andolaurina posted Thu, 15 August 2013 at 10:24 PM
It looks like the face is still V6, right? On a V4 body with Genesis 2 Female geometry? UV Maps are...Genesis 2?

The body is grouped differently, but "morph transfer" in Poser is so advanced that it's easy to port the Vicky 4 or Gen 2 bodymorphs over.
The "Aneta" custom morph I made for Vicky 4 took just a few seconds to transfer over to "V6toV4". (See pic)
Add a bit of scaling and I have another realistic figure to play with.
Basically, such a figure would allow P6 to P8 users to be still a part of the "Vicky 6" party and allow merchants to sell more texture sets and character morphs.
But in the end, I guess I just like to take things apart.
:-)
@lmckenzie: Thank you !

I wish you could/would RTE-distribute it. That's very cool.

Thanks ! Well, if only the day had 48 hours. Lol.
But this was actually the easy part. Adding the morphs and making sure everything works flawlessly and packing it all up so it's ready to use is the harder part.
Would also need double encoding as it uses V6 and V4.
But maybe someone else wants to pick up the idea or some people could pester DAZ to make an official "V6toV4" ?
Last render and then it's back to converting clothes for my weightmapped figures.
Thanks for looking, everybody.

For expression morphs I would export a Victoria 6 cr2 from Studio (just set it up as you did and File>Export and select *.cr2 as the file type) and try transferring the facial morphs to your hacked figure with good old Morph Manager.
If that choked on the cr2 (it is an ancient program) I'd give Morphing Clothes a try, but I bet Morph Manager would work..

You going to make displacment maps or just burn some bumps for detail
to compare with the high polycount meshes ?

I'm always interested in new figures. However, I don't see any upside to V6 due to the lack of characters for her.
Too bad V6 is "All Caucasians, All the time."

I think this is essentially what a program named "Gen-X" by dimension3d does (for Genesis, perhaps there will be a Genesis2 version some day). Once in this marketplace, now at DAZ's (i.e. it costs money); at least for morphs. For clothing DAZStudio has something like this builtin and it's called "Auto-fit" and works only so-so.
