Attached Link: Classic Ball Chair
Hi, everyone. I'd like to introduce my latest free model (yes another chair). This one is a "Classic Ball Chair". I know, this kind of chair has seen life from MANY other 3D modelers, in various formats, but I think my version is somewhat unique; I've given it some wild colors and textures that could be really fun in a render or interior design, and I've modeled the "ball" shell from a quad sphere, instead of the standard "pole" sphere, which could help raytraced reflections to render a little cleaner on the surface. I've also modeled a detailed interior "padding", and provided a very detailed **cushioned seat** inside the ball, which some other models of this chair may not have. The Ball Chair, also known as a Globe Chair, was designed by Finnish furniture designer Eero Aarnio in 1963. This chair is famous for its round shape and unconventional design, and has become a permanent fixure in popular culture. This model can easily provide a classic/modernist look and feel to your arch/viz interior renders, or it could also work very nicely as a character prop.
The model is available in several scaled .obj formats (the .MAX format is still waiting approval here, but can be downloaded from other resource sites listed below), for importing easily into other applications, like Blender, Poser, or Daz|Studio. It comes complete with color, bump, and specular texture maps, where needed. All textures are .jpg format, and sized to a high resolution of 2048x2048; suitable for high quality, close-up rendering. The topology is cleanly modeled from 100% quadrilateral polygons (Quads), with a detailed, but optimized poly count of just 12,480, and 12,740 verts.
You are free to use or modify this object as you see fit, for use in your scenes as a room filler or character prop, or any other type of situation where you may need a quality furniture item to render.
Click Here to download from Renderosity Freestuff.
Optionally, you could also download this object from the following locations, as well as preview the wireframe renders:
Turbosquid.com - .MAX and .OBJ versions can be downloaded seperately.
ShareCG.com - Both .MAX and .OBJ versions together in single download.
As always, enjoy the model, and please let me know if you have any questions about how to integrate this model into your renders. ** Poser/Daz users**, please read the included readme text for instructions on how to import the model properly to those applications. Just PM or email me if you have any trouble. Thanks.
