Ever since I started modeling clothes for the Poser figures, I try to take inspiration from what I see women wearing everyday. Aside from how the woman was filling out said item of clothing, I never really gave it much thought. Now I feel like a perv some times because I find myself studying the woman's clothes more closely to see how they're made, which means I'm staring at women a lot more than they're comfortable with.

You're not alone on this. LOL ;O)

Maybe try looking at catalogs and other clothes ads some. You may not see every side of an outfit, but you also won't get hit with a purse. :m_hide: (We keep bricks in those things you know. :lol:)

When I started making things for Poser, I started seeing everything in quads.
And it was so disturbing, I could not help it.

Lately I am more in sculpting, and when I see a woman, I start thinking in number of mouse stokes, and brush sizes.

I'v got to find me another hobby, before I go hunt women with my mouse and brushes in hand.

I am reminded of Allerleirauh posting about how she found herself standing in line at the grocery, wanting to photograph the elbows of other customers, as a texturing resource. Poser can change how you see the world, I guess. :lol:

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Got to watch out... clothing analysis habits aren't easy to eradicate.

I'm remembering the last time we visited my grandmother, who had been a seamstress before she lost her vision. At age 98 she was completely blind, mostly deaf, and nearly dead. She hugged my sister especially hard, with a lot of groping. We were thinking "Oh dear, she's desperately clinging to life!"

Then Grandma let go of my sister and said "That's cut on the bias, isn't it?"

I know a lot of Poser users look at people and wonder how many morph dials they have to spin or create to duplicate them. LOL

LOL...unfortunately I know what you're talking about. (grandma was a seamstress too...lol).

Oh yes. And looking at people IRL thinking "hey, that's [this and that] hair"

Or looking at someone and thinking "if I did HIM as a morph everyone would call it a carricature"

Or looking at someone thinking "hey I have that dress for v4"/alternatively "hey it could be cool to model that for ...[insert figure]"

In other words.. you're perfectly normal :m_laugh:

In my day job (ok.. night job) as a train conductor I see a LOT of people I'd love to make as Poser morphs. Because they look.. interesting. BUT people have a weird idea that "interesting" = weird = not real... so.. well...

Real life people do not look like fashion models.. Just sayin'....

:lol: I catch myself doing weird stuff like that. I'm staring at manaquins in store windows or plucking something off the shelf to see how it's designed. I go to the fabric stores & start filtering through clothes patterns, talking to myself & wondering if I can create a model based on this pattern. What's worse is when my husband catches me staring at a really hot guy. You know what I'm thinking: "I'd like to run him through a laser scanner & make a character out of his naked, sweaty body-Hubba hubba."

one woman did call the cops on me for looking at her husbands car once but i was doing that long before the 3d world called me

I had it worse when I was heavily into Vue. There'd be an absolutely gorgeous sunset. Hubby's thinking "How beautiful!" and I'm trying to figure out how to replicate it in Vue ;).

Yup, very recognizable. Browsing online catalogs trying to figure out how something is made has taken up more of my time than advisable...

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

Feel your pain. In a previous life I was in the food packaging industry, and got tossed out of a few grocery stores for examining how products were packaged.

Now study industrial designs, and go into stores and look how things are made, fit and finish. Nobody has swung a purse at me with a brick in it yet. :ohmy: But I do get the oddest looks. Helps that stores have cut back their on their floor help so I don't get hassled as much as I used to, when going over a product closely.

A local bicycle shop used to allow me to assemble their floor models after hours, until they got busted by the State for not paying me a wage after a disgruntled employee that got fired reported what I was doing. :mad:

Never converted any of it to Poser. Solidworks yes. So I can't take on the handle Poser Perv like some of you! :laugh:

The only reason that's a problem for the State is that they can't tax experience.

I will confess that I have found my self checking out hair styles in order to make them. I've even thought about asking if I could photograph the hair so I had reference pictures. I go to hairstyle web sights but most of those don't look like hair styles, they look like sculpturs and they only show one angle so they aren't the best option.

I'm a security guard and this summer I had to baby sit a store in a mall overnight. The gate was broken, so I had to sit there until the store staff came in the next morning. So I did a little walking around the mall and studying the clothes up close on the mannequins.
