I finally understand why Paolo and others have told me to stay out of Poser's Material Room if I want to learn how to use Reality 3, and it took watching a tutorial on an unrelated product to finally get it.

I just watched a video on importing Poser figures into Vue (the link should take you to the point at which the artist starts editing the materials in their scene. Otherwise, it's at the 2:25 mark).

Even though Reality is designed to convert Poser's material nodes into a format Lux can use, Poser materials are quite literally nothing like what Reality sends to Lux. That's why it would be a complete waste of time for me to learn anything about Poser's Material Room.

In other words, when I shop for content, I need to ignore all of the promotional renders, and only think about how I'm going to edit the materials for rendering in Lux.

Correct,

If you Plan on using Reality, or any other External render Engine than FireFly.

Then Enduring the byzantine vicissitudes of Poser's "Material Room"amount to nothing more than a wasted exercise .
