Can Poser save a scene as a STL or DXF file. No animation just a static scene.
If no can a Poser scene be saved and imported to another program like Blender or Meshlab and saved as an STL or DXF.
Thank You
Don

It's still going to require a TON of clean up if you intend to 3D print it.

No, Joe, he's using a CNC to carve bas-relief in wood.

Clarification for casual forum readers: no mesh work needed if he can use the DXF; while the bas-relief type of work would not inherently require topological closure nor triangulation, the .stl (STereoLithography) format will insist. This the format commonly used by rapid prototypers and 3D printers.

Don, it is trivial for Poser to output a DXF (although it takes a while for Poser to do the format conversion). I know how to prepare a mesh for STL, and my favorite modeler program Silo can export it, but Poser models are not even close to being suitable for STL as-is. It would take a lot of time & work to re-work all the geometry in a complex Poser scene to meet STL standards.

I'd also have to build new models if you need an STL or DXF, because I can't send you geometry which was built by someone else (copyright issue).

I did not think of that. What if the model is part of the complete scene. The STL format is not a real 3-D format. Can you do the same scene we are working on and use 8 shades of gray with no black.

Hmmm... I think so. I'll give it a shot.
