Subject: I made some 3D writing in vue

with extrusion.  It has 3 textures and looks good in vue.  but I can't seem to export it for use in poser. .obj export lumps all the letters togethe into one squashed mashed unusual looking object.

lwo works best but no texture applied.

Anyone got any ideas about this?

love esther

I would imagine the topology is horrible - Vue isn't known for making good models.  You might be better off making them in a proper modelling app

the writing looks fine in poser ie the model itself looks great (providing I don't use anything except lwo export)..  Textures get created which don't apply, and if I apply them it does look horrible and there is no grouping of the model at all.

I did it and here is how I did it. I baked the object. I split the baked object.  .obj now works.

Ahh baking - yup, that might well do the trick :) Glad you got it working in the end

But I could not fully reproduce it a second time around. It tried the baking trick but did not get a good model into poser, so it's a bit hit and miss.

Maya would be better for making this model,I think.

I quite like the look of the vue text.  it has some preset styles that are very nice and the colours are easy to adjust.  And I have vue and not maya.  I'm not looking for a modeller. Iw as just hoping there would be a way for vue to export things like it promises on the promo page at e-on.

Vue is fine at exporting plants that it grows.  Anything else is very iffy.
