I'm looking for shoulder length flowing hair for Jessie model. Any suggestions?
I'm using a wind machine to blow it around and I'm hoping to make that look as realistic as possible, like a cheesy model shot with a giant fan nearby.
Currently using Jessi hair, and it "kinda" works. Playing with wind machine to see if it can work better.

I was using Jessie dynamic, did you just get that motion from moving V4's head?

Yes, it was just Jessi moving her head.
The amount of motion you get depends on the hair settings. Kirwyn's Genesis hair (available free at the link I posted) is pretty good for a lot of motion. It also is a tutorial of sorts, with lots of great tips for using dynamic hair.

Seems only the V4 hair proxy is still online, the older stuff (V2 and V3 hair proxies were marketplace items, Jessie's proxy was freestuff too) is gone.

Yes, it's the V4 Hair Proxy. I guess he must have changed the name, since DAZ co-opted "Genesis."
I bought the product when he had a store here; it included proxies and skullcaps, hair, etc. for several figures.
However, it is pretty easy to use with any figure. Skullcaps don't have to fix exactly with dynamic hair. Kirwyn's skullcaps are designed to fit inside the figure's head, so the hair appears to be growing naturally out of the scalp.
Another neat trick he used was to model the skullcaps tipped back 30 degrees. That way, the hair grown from them naturally falls back from the figure's face.

I hate hair!
Tried the V4 Kirwyn hair. Doesn't look anything like yours.
Did a simple animation turning head. Hair looks funky at best.
Tried messing with my original Jessica w/ Dynamic hair. I've turned up the force field, aplitude and turbulence. Doesn't seem to have an effect even though I have recalculated all hair dynamics.
Do I have to "clear hair dynamics" first?
The Joe Bushido hair is no lnoger available. :(

What don't you like about Kirwyn's hair?
You probably just need to adjust the settings. You can make it straighter or curlier, longer or shorter, more responsive, etc.
You might also have to increase the density. There was a change after Poser 7 (I think). Hair and fur created before then looks sparse in later version of Poser.
You can run the sim, then increase the density before you render (so it won't eat too many computer resources).

I was using an older version of the product. I downloaded the current version to check it out.
He made it much easier to use. But...that also takes away all the cool Hair Room information it used to have.
You have to go into the Hair Room to adjust the settings. The Poser legacy solver seems to work better than the Bullet Physics.
You can adjust all the Styling Controls except verts per hair after running the sim, without having to re-run it.
If you adjust the dynamic controls or the grow guide hairs stuff, you will have run the simulation again.

The big advantage is the weight painting. He starts with everything still and paints in dynamics. If cloth had weight painting, it would be so much more powerful.
Well, and the speed. The hard and softbody physics in Poser 10+ are game technology, and designed to work in real time. According to SM materials, it's not accurate enough for cloth but it's really fast.

I pulled my model from my animation, and tried just a short animation. It took too long to play with and recalc.
I noticed when i change Pull Back on Kirin hair from .02500, to .02400, it changes the look completely. I would not have thought such a minor change would make such a difference. Anyway, thank you. Don't go to any trouble. I'll keep playing with it until I get the look I want (maybe).

Here's another example. It's an old test I did (so old that's V3, not V4), but I tried it again today with the V4 version of Kirwyn's hair in Poser Pro 2012.
It works the same, except you need to change the hair root and tip widths. Basically, they need to be ten times bigger. (Due to a change in Poser since the product was created.) I also made the hair a little longer, which tends to straighten out the flip he styled into it.
If you're doing a close up instead of a full length shot, you might want to make the hair finer and thicker. You can also make the hair denser. (I usually do it after I run the sim - easier on the system resources that way.)
You can use a painted skullcap (like 3Dreams' USC - Universal Skull Caps in the Marketplace) so you don't have to make the hair as dense to get full coverage.
And check out the "Sexy Manga Dancer" video on YouTube. (It's apparently considered x-rated, so I won't link to it; it features a girl dancing around in her underwear, but no nudity.) He used three hair groups, but only enabled collisions on one of them, to speed up the simulation. (You can see the hair in back going through her body when she turns her back to the camera, but overall, it works pretty well.)

I liked your example better.
Well, I tried it. Set to the same specs. I'm making a 900 frame video, replaced the hair, set the specs, and it just seems to lock windows up. It "may" not be locking up, as windows sucks sometimes and says "not responding" when really it is still working, but I waited pretty long to recalc the hair, and the Jessie dynamic hair never took this long before so there is something it doesn't like. Fairy certain I have enough memory etc. P6 with 12 gb's, Win7 64bit. Should handle it, and it's not even a render, its just a hair calculation. But, this always seems to happen to me so it's nothing new.
I do appreciate the help, but it's taking too much time and I need to finish the video.

p6 is only 32 bit so will only use 3 gig of your memory. 900 frames is a long simulation. it will take a long time to calculate. And there maybe times when it looks like it's not responding. You might try a shorter scene for your tests and when things look good then try it on a longer one. be prepared thogh for an overnight or longer simulation.

Oops, I misspoke. It's an I7 6 core, not a p6. Doh. It's quite fast.
My vid is too long and I should have broken it down into pieces...but I didn't.
I tried it again, thinking I was being impatient, which I am, and it's still running overnight.
Sigh.
It's a very full (models props) video, so it could be still processing. We'll see if I run out of patience before it runs out of time.
