I've seen discussion on this, and observed it myself: there was some kind of change in the Hair Room that makes older dynamic hair look way too sparse in newer versions of Poser.
Tiny, for example, said he had to fix his furry animal products because the fur is way too thin in newer versions of Poser. I think he said Poser 8 was when this started.
So, what is the fix? Do you just increase the hair density, and if so, how much?

Increase tip and root width instead.
Don't know the exact factor, but I think It was almost 10x.

Well, glad the hair got finer...the old hair kinda looked like straw ;).

Thanks! Now I don't have to buy the new version of Tiny's furry cat. ;-)
Laurie, you could make the hair just as fine in the older versions of Poser. The issue was really the resources it took to sim and render enough hair to cover the scalp. So people would make the hair as coarse as aesthetically reasonable to get maximum coverage without choking Poser.
