I imported a Poser 9 character as an object from into Blender Cycles and the hair rendered is not refined at all. Any ideas on how to get the hair to render like hair in Blender Cycles?

looks like you haven't got the trans map set up right. do a screen shot of your node tree and I might be able to help more

had hoped I could say "ha the mistake is there" but I cant !! it all looks ok to me (I'm NOT expert) but thats about the same way I do it

what I dont understand is the preview looks right so why not the render?

saw this on BA too so hope some one with more ideas helps you

ps what hair is it ? I might have it but not bought any poser stuff for a yr or 3 so its a long shot

the preview doesn't look right unless blocky hair is right.

The kludge that Poser uses (because it doesn't support the alpha channel of a .png) limits one to the use of jpgs. So, there are ways to use .pngs in Blender if you're willing to convert two images into one.

However, the above solution does work... adjust the gamma level to achieve the amount of transparency you desire.
