I picked up a template of Jessi for P6 and thought it would be nice to paint it and make it my own so to speak. I spent the whole morning putting paint to the head and tried to load it but the Jpg image did not load in the proper placement. Not sure what I did wrong. Any Ideas?

What do you mean by proper placement? If you are referring to misalignment then my question to you, do you have the right template? There are 2 Jessi models: one which comes with Poser and the other is Jessi G2.
Perhaps if you can provide a screencap of your results, we can proceed with some corrective action.

What I mean by "Improper placement" is instead of the template loading as a template should, (i.e. like a skin) it acted like a Jpg image and applied over the head mesh with the eye areas on the side of the head. When viewed, the mesh shape for the head was there but it looked like someone painted eye liner on the side of her head. Will attempt to get an image for you after Christmas.

Looks like the one I have. should I have changed it back to a gif before reloading?

No need to reconvert the map back to gif. The standard image format Poser usages is jpg although PNG is a better, lossless standard. Still, if you can provide a screencap of the MatRoom with all connecting nodes open, we might see something we are overlooking. If the UVMapping and texture map matches in the 3rd party application, the only place where mismatching can occur would be a MatRoom setting on a node.

Hi
PNG is fine but Poser will take almost anything, I use native Photoshop files most of the time. I don't think that the file format has anything to do with the image not fitting.
I did a tutorial on making a texture for Jessi at one time.
I don't have time to look for it right now (Christmas) but I'll post it here tomorrow.
You can check it out if you're interested.
It shows how I do texture for Poser, and may not be the same as other people but it works.

If you shoot a mime, do you need a silencer?

Hi
Here's a link to an old post that has samples showing how I did textutes for both Jessi and James, and other info on making textures.

Thanks Mike, Gonna take a look at it latter. Maybe it can help me out. I'd like to get into a new aspect of the modeling industry other than just making props for the market place.

sI have used photoes to make face maps foer Jessie many times: she is my favourit female (with tousers on). You need to make a number of passes: the ears- save map. Load map then do the nose- save map, then lips, eyes ect. Making a face is time consuming enterprise but when finished you have a uniqe face, especcially if you add morphs and subdivision in pp2014
