I'm starting to experiment with enabling the hardware shadows. I love the look but my figures' eyelashes cast shadows that made it look like they're wearing a Lone Ranger mask. Is there a way I can make the eyelashes still show but not cast shadows in the preview with the hardware shadows enabled.

Change the Depth Bias in the Preview Render Settings.
Mine is set to 150.000, so there are still hardware shadows for the whole figure but no more self shadowing for small parts like eyelashes.

Or are you suffering from a broken OpenGL preview after installing SR3 ?If that's the case, there is currently no fix. I had to roll back to SR2 to make it go away.

Thanks so much for that information. I'm playing with the settings now and adjusting both the depth bias and the main light's Preview Shadow Map Size. I'm hoping to find a happy medium whereby there are self shadows on the figures but not those black hair and eyelash shadows.
Oh, and SR3 had no ill effects for my system.
