I want to create a presentation, where I use several avi files in an interactive way. I want to have a figure standing, blinking and looking natural on a looped animation, looping an indefinite number of times, until I click a key, at which time a second animation takes over seamlessly to have the character perform an action. Does anyone know software that can do that?

Is there some way I don't know of to make flash look good?

Apparently so; Flash can be set to look as clear as an AVI or MPEG4 (DVD). It can also be interactive, responding to mouseovers, clicks, and take different storylines depending on choices made by the viewer. But doing this requires using a Flash editor (Adobe Flash, et al), not just spitting out an animation in .swf or .flv format from a general purpose photo/GIF/video compositor.

Not sure if InfoHesiveEP would fit the bill or not. I've been curious about the software but have not checked it out myself. I DO use SyncBack, which is great for keeping two or more sets of Runtimes synchronized.

Used to play with a product called Illuminatus, but I am not sure if that software is still available. That would certainly create the kind of end product you are looking for.

I have not used this version and can not vouch for the Website:

The (now old) product I have IS/WAS Digital Workshop. I made a number of interactive programs with the software that ran from CD-ROM. Great fun way back when ...

Yes, SwishMax4 - the current iteration - is a very capable and much less expense Flash Doppelganger. I use it and Flash, but SM4 has a whole lot of really great effects - not that Flash doesn't BTW.
Speaking of effects, After Effects MIGHT do that, or at least most of it! Can't swear to it with complete confidence however.
