I finally had enough of all the freezes crashes bug insults and injury produced to myself and intelligence SO through up my hands says THATS it I am gunna get maya, or Cinema 4D rt15 or something that actually works....

Exactly my point, you're paying for the "prestige" that goes along with the names Maya and Cinema4D and who, in their right mind, would pay that much for software with features that Blender does for FREE!

But the real question is, why are any of you still paying for C, when it can barely do anything without some kind of hack or work arounds because DAZ wants to keep charging for outdated software and half-assed features that barely work?

And don't start in about the myth of the learning curve of Blender, it's no different than if you had got Maya or C4D, both of which I've used and both of which had a much steeper learning curve.

I guess all of you just have money to flush down the toilet, apparently tons too if any of you even considered any of the so-called "professional name brand" software.

Titanic Your absolutley right. Yea the more I researsch Maya and Cinema 4 they REALY want to corn hole you. But you get what you pay for.

NOW where is that FAKE Community College Class Roster, registration paper and Shedual I have used to get all my othersoftware for nearly nothing. I hope I backed it up!

AS far as the learning curve it also might be stepper for me than most I am over 50. But once to grpas the BASICS of the heory of 3D the rest is jusy learnign where the tools are or at least I hope.

I have to admit, the Carrara forum often provides some of the most pure form of reading entertainment I've seen since... the Poser forum.

I see Blender has infiltrated the ranks here too, lobbying hard to win over voters with that irresistable catchword, FREE.  Amazing not every single animation studio in the world has opened their eyes to this marvelous tool by now, and started saving themselves hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars a year, rather than supplying silly ol bloated Maya licenses to their seats.  I'll never understand it, since everything Maya can do, blender can do just exactly the same.

I think I will giver blender a try! I have it loaded on my olderr g5 power mac. Time to put it on this macpro.

Sorry but carrara doesn't cause bloodpresher issues for me. Yes it has it's issues and faults but I know it well enough to figure a way around them. Now that I have the work flow figured out for doing studio; optitex, dynamic clothing animations to be staged in carrara, I did 8 runthoughs yesterday. 

The best I have ever done with Blenders is get so worked up I thought my eyes were about to pop out. The only other time I have gotten that worked up was from playing FFXIII on the PS1. lol

Well for one you must be PC based For mac Carrara is a complete and udder disaster. And DAZ not only admits this they PUBLISHED the fact that THEY HAVE NO INTETIONS on ever addressing those issues!

But one has to admire their cut throat honesty and finger in thier customer asses attitude. I mean WOW!

DAZ deserves nothin but white hot hate and loathing from its MAC users.

I use to be Carraras number one fan. Now I do everything i can to steer anyone and everyone  hell away from anything DAZ! IN SPADES!

Maybe when DAZ is looking at going out of business they will address these issues... BUT I doubt it.

Even thier most virolant supporters and apaliguistes are now admitting they were fooled and leaving the DAZ ship.

Carrara for mac is LESS than useless. a complete and total train wreck of a program.

I am saving my beans for C4D and will NEVER look back!

DAZ COCKBITES

I visit maybe once a month. But I'm using Carrara 5.1 Pro. Just use it for edge creasing OBJ models I make in Hexagon 1.21 (my main modeler still). I use other apps for texturing/rendering. I upload to the gallery more than I post in the forums.

Wow, necroed thread. None the less I don't think this issue is just DAZ. DAZ has such fanatical followers that DAZ is even convinced they can do no wrong. No matter what proof you have they will scof at it and say you are wrong. When followers popup to justafy DAZ selling a work around for a bug they could fix, what do you expect?

But hey, don't worry, I doubt there will be a C9, or a studio 5 for that matter. DAZ is strickly a content broker now, like RuntimeDNA and Poserworld. I honestly don't think DAZ is developing anything any more. It miraculess we got C8.5; even though serveral features were borked in the release that worked in the beta. 8 months with out a fix leads me to beleive DAZ nolonger has a developmental staff.

Well what can I say, DAZ is a master at tucking it's customers in with that big old blanket; read a pulling the wool over their eyes.

I've never owned any Daz software. Just their V3/M3 models.
