Hi,

I must create a software which will display a tooth in 3D, this tooth should transparent.

There should be an object that slides inside and
outside it and this object's edge apperance should be changable.

The tooth must be rotatable in Z axis.

I am a total noob to graphics, and don't sure whrere to begin.

I think that I should use some kind of game engine because it should be part of an application... I checked Blender, because it's free and it is a game engine, but don't sure if it suits my needs.

I don't need a fancy graphics and I'm looking for as simplest solution as possible.

It should be a little similar to this demo:

I'm a total nube to 3D graphics so I will be happy to get as much information as possible...

Thanks in advance.

Blender is not a gaming engine its a Open-source 3d modeling software, with a render engine and with practice you can develope the teeth your looking for in your project, it will just take you some time on how to learn to do it if your new to blender

and if you need a gaming engine you can get Cryengine3 as a free demo and is a Gaming engine software.  but it is not modeling software so you can not develop  models with it.  http://cryengine-3.en.softonic.com/

I think  for what your needs are I would suggest using  3D MAX or zbrush which are not free and have a very steep learning curve on  learning how to use it.

I have not seen any free teeth models anywhere but you can find teeth morphs & sets here at rendo http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/search.php?criteria=teeth&adv_search=

and at daz3d.com  http://www.daz3d.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=teeth&x=0&y=0

Good Luck :)

Blender ISN"T a game engine, its a full software package like Ivy said, but it DOES have a built in game engine. If nothing else its free and more than sufficient so far as your modeling/sculpting/texturing needs would go. Max and Zbrush aren't in the least bit necessary, and I wouldn't even consider them unless you've got long term plans to be doing a lot more of this kind of thing and/or have money to burn.

CryEngine would be overkill for your needs I think, as would the Unreal engine. I would consider Unity3D, its a fairly robust game engine, and has a free version available. Blender's internal game engine might be able to handle what you want [I'm not terribly familiar with it] if not, Unity should be sufficient for your needs.
