Nope. Ground plane is still visible in the preview window. As before, it doesn't render, but in preview, it still obscures anything below it.
Any other ideas?

nuke, it should turn ground invisible but leave default shadow. uncheck "ground shadows". can't duplicate yer issue, other than that, like some other plane near ground.

ground plane is behaving fine with me, sorry.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.
visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though

If you're using a Mac that would be Command G. Command is that little clover style symbol on the keyboard. Alternatively, you could select the Property tab and simply uncheck everything.

Still doesn't work. If I open a new scene with nothing in it, the ground plane goes away. As soon as I add a Prop, the Ground plane appears in my preview window with all of the selections unselected... BTW I'm running a PC with Vista (cry for me Argentina... at least it's not W8!).

It looks like your ground shadows are on. They will show up even when the ground is turned off. Under the display uncheck ground shadows or use the third icon from the left just under your image.

Bingo!!! Thanks! This was really driving me nuts (not because it's annoying, but I couldn't figure it out!). Okay, too many exclamation points....
